About this listen
SSA Rain Christiansen used to be the agency's golden boy. It just takes one moment of weakness, one slight, tiny, itty-bitty paranormal sighting, and all of a sudden, he's the agency's embarrassment. His boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself - go down to Brickell Bay, play nice with the local police, and leave the ghost sightings behind. Rain is determined to do exactly that, even if it kills him.
Cold-case Detective Daniel McKenna's latest investigation is going nowhere fast. Five years earlier, high school student Amy Greene went missing after leaving her part-time job and was never seen again. Daniel is glad to finally have the FBI help his department requested, even if it does come in the form of his ex.
It doesn't help that Rain is pretty sure he's falling in love with Danny all over again - if he ever stopped. Add to that the frustration of seeing ghosts at every turn while he works a case that's stalled in its tracks, and Rain is starting to wonder if second chances and happy endings are just for fairy tales.

The Man Who Stares at Ghosts
A delightful surprize! Well narrated, although I did have to slow it down to 0.9 to reduce the gabbling and the slight echo, but don't be put off.
I was expecting something dry, like a police procedural, but it's a witty, hot, laugh out loud funny, tongue in cheek drama with such good dialogue and banter had me chortling through most of the book. Hints of Josh Lanyon's Sam and Jason from The Art of Murder.
Am sorry to see this narrator doesn't narrate Book 2/3 or 4 as he had so perfectly characterized the MCs.
SO ENTERTAINING

Really enjoyed this story
This is my first book by this author and I was not disappointed.
I am a big fan of supernatural/who done it stories and this one was both interesting and laugh out loud funny. The romance between the two MC was believable and worked well with solving the mystery.
I have to mention Ethan the snarky ghost loved that dead guy.

Loved it!
This is a highly entertaining murder/mystery, paranormal story and romance combined. I particularly enjoyed the banter and snark that spilled from the lips of Rain, the POV character, and Ethan, the friendly ghost who popped up frequently throughout the story. It took me a chapter or two but once I sussed out their humour and the tone of the story they had me bursting out laughing many times.
Rain is a great character—an FBI profiler, who is still learning how to deal with the ghosts he sees. He’s already received psychiatric counselling at work and he’s determined to prove he is capable of doing his job in a professional manner. His new partner on a cold case is Danny, his ex-lover of four years, who for some reason was not privy to the fact that Rain was talking to ghosts. The lack of trust went both ways as Danny kept certain information about his own sister and father from Rain. But now they’re back together working on a case to find a girl who has been missing for five years. Rain and Danny are friends and it’s clear they still harbour feelings for each other. Danny had been hurt the first time Rain left and is reluctant to start anything in case Rain disappears back to Washington DC again. The chemistry between these guys is sizzling and Rain’s inner comments are hilarious as he tries to resist his ex. The sex scenes when they do come are hot and dirty. They need to learn to talk and trust each other this time around and as they work the cold case together, they gradually learn to do that.
The writing is superb, the story-telling skilfully done and the characters are well-developed. There are a few wobbly plot points but nothing major to spoil the overall story for me. I certainly hope we’ll be getting more stories in this series and more of these two guys.
Noah Michael Levine is a new to me narrator. His voice suits Rain’s character and he delivered those snarky lines well. Noah made it enjoyable and easy to follow the story—so much so, I listened to it all over again straight away. Highly recommended.

I didn't want this book to end.
At first glance at the blurb, the premise of this book looks similar to the Psycop series by Jordan Castillo Price. The only common threads are a law enforcement officer who can see ghosts, and a character with a new age shop. The characters and writing style are original, superbly fleshed out and so paranormal mm fans should dive right in.
I do hope that this is the start of a long series cos I adored the characters of Rain and Danny.
This was a wonderful, refreshing murder mystery and I want more!

Okish
I thought this story had a lot of plot holes that just left you asking so many questions it made it quite frustrating.

Entertaining Paranormal Suspense
Overall I really enjoyed listening to this book. I had previously read the author's PI Guys Series a while back and came across this when I was looking for m/m romantic suspense to listen to. I wasn't familiar with the narrator, however, I liked the pitch and cadence of his voice, especially Danny's slight southern lilt, and I would definitely listen to him again.
I liked Rain and Danny together, opposites attract, hot sex and a mutual wish for something more but I found their past relationship a touch unbelievable/underwhelming given the amount of secrets they kept from each other despite the fact they lived together. I am rooting for them going forward though!
Rain's reluctant 'Ghost Whispering' skills, a plot revolving around a cold-case to find a missing teenager and a cast of potential suspects and ghosts was entertaining and kept me listening, although the eventual unmasking of the villain wasn't a huge shock.
The ending is not a cliffhanger but definitely screams sequel. I have not seen anything from the author confirming this but I would definitely pick it up if it is released.

Terrific audio...
Terrific audio from a new-to-me narrator Noah Michael Levine. His female characterisations were great, and he had Danny's drawl spot-on. Rain was as snarky as ever...the only problem I had was that he kept pronouncing forehead as farhead for some reason 🤔. Anyhoo...any time the author wants to add to this series, I'm there with bells on 😁.
***Book Review***
4.5 stars from me. Absolutely loved the banter...nearly everything that came out of Rain's mouth was pure snark...the snark-o-meter was strong in this one. His 'interactions' with Ethan, his first spirit guide so to speak, his boss Gracie at the FBI, his mum [honestly, who names their kids Rainstorm and Sky?? 😉] were full of sarcasm, and when he met up with Danny again, I thought we were in for more of the same.
I did have a slight problem with the fact that for lovers who'd previously been together for 4 years, they didn't seem to tell each other hugely important things....(view spoiler), and Rain?? Well...exactly how do you tell your lover that you can see and hold conversations with ghosts??
I would definitely be up for more stories from these two and the rest of the PTU.
