About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 anthology

Take your first steps into the adrenaline-fuelled fiction of the 41st millennium with a thrilling collection of tales, including an action-packed novella pitting noble Ultramarines against sinister necrons.

Whether you're dipping a toe into the galaxy of Warhammer 40,000 or are a hardened veteran of the universe, this anthology is the perfect way to discover the many factions of the games in action-packed tales.

Within this book you will find Nexus, a fantastic new novella by Thomas Parrott.

In a galaxy beset by war, where the Adeptus Astartes are all that stand against annihilation, the Ultramarines are exemplar - noble, honourable and oathbound to the protection of mankind. Where the predations of the alien, the witch and the heretic threaten the Imperium, the Angels of Death fight to oppose them.

Brother-Sergeant Allectius wages a brutal war of attrition against a seemingly endless xenos foe. But when the vile necrons unleash a mysterious pall over him and the people he protects, Allectius must take his fight beyond the walls...for more than just victory, now their very survival is at stake.

Also included in this book is a host of awesome short stories to give you a flavour of the many warring armies that exist within the worlds of Warhammer 40,000.

Authors include Dan Abnett, Guy Haley, Chris Wraight, Rachel Harrison, Mike Brooks, Danie Ware, Steve Parker, Peter McLean, Josh Reynolds, Phil Kelly, Thomas Parrott, Robert Rath, Marc Collins and J C Stearns.

Narrated by Andrew Wincott, Richard Reed, Emma Gregory, John Banks and Toby Longworth. Running time is 18 hours and 49 minutes.

All over the place

Nexus was good, then after that the audio book goes south. The narrator introduces the next short story then doesn’t read it and starts the next story… seems either formatted wrong or I’m missing something

A great anthology

It is often a case of good story and mediocre story when it comes to short story collections I have all the BL short stories (sad I know) and have to say this was a really enjoyable listen, various narrators brought their inimitable style (John Banks, Andrew Wincott) and I completely immersed myself in the grim dark future

Worth listening to but not for the nexus

The main story in the audio book sadly feels like nothing but advertisement for the new range of necron/primaris models, with the exception of a side story about a serf.

However most of the other stories do not suffer from this with the standout being “war in the museum” a short story about trayzn the infinite set after the event of “the infinite and the divine” worth getting purely for this story with the rest being merely gravy.

Various stories for the early 42nd millennium .

I got this because it was 18 hours of 40k stories. I liked some more than others. They were all good. The voice actors were amazing for all of the stories. If you want to know what is going on across the length and breadth of the Imperium then this is well worth the price of admission.

Good stories

Pity about the narrative. Mono tome and it as though the story is being read to an infant. Lately I’ve not brought books from war hammer 40,000 because of the poor narrative. The stories are good but could of been awesome.

not as bleak as some of the older stuff but gives a good feel for the 40k lore

2 stories stuck out as awsome and memorable

some of the stories were kind of meehh and some of the naration was very bland and boring to listen to.

other stories were good and naration was good.

Nexus was totally awesome and I think I liked that one the most, however the story called "where theres da warp, theres da way" is a very close second place! richard reed was born to narate orcs interacting with each other! it is just so much fun and believable. i really felt like a fly on the wall throughout that whole story!! i am definently listening to those 2 stories agsin in the near future!
