About this listen
A Warhammer 40,000 audiobook.
In the Chaos-infested Sabbat Worlds, Imperial Commissar Gaunt must lead his men through as much in-fighting amongst rival regiments as against the forces of Chaos.
Listen to it because: First and Only was one of the first books published by Black Library and is the most read Warhammer 40,000 novel ever, an absolute classic. This story begins the saga of Colonel Commissar Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only that has since grown into a multi-novel epic. It all starts here.
The story: For a thousand years, the Sabbat Worlds have been lost to the Imperium, claimed by the dread powers of Chaos. Now, a mighty crusade seeks to return the sector to Imperial rule. And at the forefront of that crusade are Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and the Tanith First and Only - better known as Gaunt’s Ghosts. Trapped in the grinding trench warfare of Fortis Binary, the Ghosts find themselves drawn into a conspiracy to assassinate the crusade’s leader, Warmaster Macaroth.
With enemies all around them and no one to trust, Gaunt and his men must find a way to save the warmaster and prevent the Sabbat Worlds Crusade from falling into anarchy - even if it means waging war on their supposed allies.

Please make the rest of the series into audio!
This is my favourite book series of all time, to the point where my main tabletop army is the Tanith First and Only. Toby Longworth is also my favourite narrator, so it pains me that only the 1st book, and for whatever reason books 14/15/16, are in audio format. I need me more Gaunt!

Brilliant book
My first time reading a warhammer book and at first I find it hard to immerse myself in the narration but that changes after the first couple of hours and then I was loving it

Phenomenal look into the year 40'000
A thoroughly enjoyable tale of quite possibly the only commissar to ever truly care for his men.

The First, The Only, The Best
Read this book after people recommended it, Dan Abbnet has an understanding of conflict in the 40k universe so true to its grim dark nature that listening to it now sends shivers up and down my spine. would highly recommend it for anyone who loves this universe and a fan of such a talented writer 10/10

An excellent production!
Toby Longworth brings the grim darkness of the 41st Millennium to vivid life! I can remember buying the first omnibus and reading it cover to cover, and this really did those memories justice!

First but not my last.
This was my first dip into the Warhammer universe. Absolutely fantastic, couldn’t stop. Great performance from the narrator who really captured the characters!
