About this listen

What do you get when you mix a dragon, a vampire, a griffin, a mage, and a human? Sawyer Smith’s life sounds like a punchline, but the mates he’s come to love are no joke. They’re fierce and wonderful, protecting him from the outside forces trying to destroy him. Add in a reluctant hippocamp and an egotistical fae prince, and Sawyer has his hands full in more ways than one.

Sawyer is closer than ever to fulfilling the ancient prophecy of the Chosen One, but the bonds between him and his newest guardians are giving him doubts. The rules are changing, and Sawyer has to adapt quickly if he’s going to keep up, especially after he’s whisked away to the land of the fae, a place with cryptic customs. One misstep could very well lead to his death.

Navigating the waters of his newest relationship is tricky enough without the encroaching dangers. Something terrifying is heading Sawyer’s way, threatening not only his life, but everything he’s built with the mates he loves. Despite their concerns, Sawyer is ready to make sacrifices, because there’s next to nothing he wouldn’t do to keep them safe.

Twists that you didn't see coming

So, at the end of the last book, the newest Guardian made an impression like no one else. Sawyer is struggling with Kavalan but keeps trying. When they must go to the fae lands, Sawyer starts to discover more things that he never imagined. You will not guess what twists are heading their way but so much will make sense.

Michael Dean is incredible and simply breathtaking in his talents.

Fascinating Series! Outstanding Story & Listen🎧

Macy Blake continues to wow me with another amazing story set in her “The Chosen One” series, this book picks up where the last book, “Nothing Ventured” left off, which like all the earlier books in the series are just as amazing as this and not to be missed. The character development and world building is phenomenal and continual throughout the series. Each book in the series has been introducing new characters into the mix, including guardians for the “Chosen One”, since eight is a magic number in their world they are thinking there will be eight, as of now there are four, a dragon, a vampire, a mage and a hippocamp, and in this book a new guardian is introduced from the Fae realm. There are some mind-blowing twists and turns in this book, which is changing the direction of the story and how it is playing out, I won’t say much about it other than wow and that I did not see that one coming. But I will say I am certainly glad about Locke. I am loving the character growth and development of Sawyer and his crew, also loving each of the guardians, Draco, Henry, Andvari, Eduard and Saeward, each cute and/or swoon-worthy in their own way. There are some great support characters too, though I am wondering if all are as true as they seem, I have suspicions and I am hoping I am wrong. The author is doing a great job keeping everyone on their toes wondering who is targeting the chosen one and a big revelation is coming, so hold on tight. There are many layers to this cleverly plotted story, and it contains the perfect balance of drama, some action, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, and some steamy romance. Macy Blake, thank you for another great story and wild ride, I am looking forward to what comes next for the amazing characters.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Michael Dean continues his amazing performance, bringing these characters and story to life. His character voices have been consistent and the quality of the audio has been superb. He has a complete understanding of the characters he portrays and sounds believable in every role he plays. He sets the perfect tone for the story, grasps all the character’s emotions and projects them into his performance. This entertaining storyteller and versatile voice artist is a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

This series just keeps getting better and better!

I blew through books 0 thru 2 one right after the other and then had to put this series a side for a bit because of other commitments. Because I read so many books, I was just a bit afraid that I might not remember what all had gone on when I picked this back up but I shouldn’t have worried. Next to Nothing is another nail-biting thrill ride in this universe. There’s mystery and danger and hot sexy time between multiple fated mates.

This is a series best enjoyed in order and Next to Nothing does end on a cliffhanger. I’m grateful that I have the next book ready to go in my Audible library!

Michael Dean continues to do an outstanding job performing the audiobooks in this series.

More exciting adventure

This is another exciting adventure in the series and another step forward for The Chosen One. Lots of action and drama, and lots of twists and surprises. I had guessed some of the twists, particularly surrounding the prince, but the how and why everything occurred was creative and unique. The inclusion of Sawyer's brother and his mates didn't fit into the story for me, and didn't seem to serve a purpose, but maybe they will play more of a role going forward. Sawyer continues to suffer danger and betrayal at every turn, but not all attacks are what they seem, and sometimes it is hard to determine friend from foe. The ending was a bombshell that provided way more questions and suspense for the next book. Glad I already have it and can dive right in.

Michael Dean's narration is fantastic and really pulls you into the story and holds you there to the end.

Wow - I Love It

Next to Nothing is the third book in the Chosen zone series. It is really important to read the first two books in the series first before this one. There is a series plot that continues to build and grow through each book, and oh wow it really gets good in this one.

I was on the edge of my seat for this book - especially the last quarter of the story. And oh my gosh that ending! I was not expecting the secrets that were revealed. I’m so invested in this series, and it’s because the story is fascinating, the world building exceptional, and the characters top notch. The romance is fabulous. It’s sexy but also has depth. I can’t wait to see who the rest of the guardians are.

The audiobook is narrated by Michael Dean who does a wonderful job. There was a lot of action and world jumping, and Michael brought all of that to life. The audiobook production was well done and I enjoyed listening to it.
