About this listen

The series finale is here.

With all of his mates assembled, Sawyer Smith should be ready for his own version of the end game. He must defeat the god of air, and restore both of their broken magics to all of the realms. There’s only one problem: He still doesn’t know how to do it.

His brother is a god, and is raising the forces of darkness against Sawyer and his mates more quickly than he can mount a defense. It’s time to fight, but Sawyer has too much to lose, to risk disaster. As the final pieces of the puzzle fall into place, Sawyer is faced with a task that seems impossible. He must go into battle without the knowledge or power to win.

So many of his questions remain unanswered, but Sawyer knows one thing: He will stop at nothing to keep his mates safe.

the final confrontation

what's to say, especially since everything I could say would be spoilers. I enjoyed the final book, though it does make me wish it was a little longer, I'd have like to see the relationships better developed, fleshed out more, but it is what it is and I enjoyed every second of this final confrontation in the series

The Grand Finale!

I don't want to spoil anything, but I need to say that there are some twists and turns here that break away from the standard final stand of an adventure/fantasy series, and I LOVE IT!

Drama, surprise developments, and feels, feels, feels for the win!

A fantastic series

I'm really a bit sad that this fantastic series has now come to an end. I loved Sawyer and his Guardians. Macy Blake has created an incredible world with great characters that develop, harmonize and interact well together.
You should read the series in order. With this last book, as with the others before it, I was captivated from the first page. Wow, there was a lot of suspense and trepidation this time as well. Can Sawyer defeat his adversary? And at what cost?
The ending was fitting for me and I was pleased with how things turned out. But it's hard to let Sawyer and his Guardians go. I would love to hear more from them.

Michael Dean was fantatic and has been for the entire series. He understood the protagonists and he can convey the emotions so well.

The Chosen One should be listened to if you are a fantasy fan because there is a lot of suspense, unpredictable twists, great characters, a fantastic world and hot scenes.

Outstanding series concludes

This series grabbed me from the first book/audio and never let go. I thought it was brilliant to bring us to this last book with everything riding on Sawyer's ability to put everything right and yet he still initially didn't know how to do it. The tension started right from the first page and just kept mounting as he and his mates worked to defeat the evil. This is one I will definitely listen to again, now that I know how it ends and won't be on pins and needles all the way through. Michael Dean continues his wonderful performance here, taking us right through with these characters all the way to the end in perfect form.

I didn’t want it to end

Although Pip is happy to join the menage as the eighth mate, I wasn’t ever really clear what his role was. Draco the Dragon shifter? Handy to have around someone who can breathe fire. Andavari the Vampire? Makes a good guard. Henry the mage? Dear sweet Henry. Those visions are helpful. Eduard the griffin? Those money management skills come in handy, but he’s also good in a fight. Saeward the Atlantian Hippocamp? Well, enough said. Locke the protector? Valiant to the end. Dakota the lynx? Heroic in battle. But Pip? Endearing, adorable, and a great addition to the now-completed harem. Never did quite figure him out, but that was okay.

Sawyer now has all his mates. But something else is happening around him – very few other paranormal creatures are finding their mates. There’s an imbalance, and Sawyer wonders not only if he’s the cause, but also if he might be the solution. There’s a final battle to be had first – Sawyer must defeat his brother – the God of Air. But Sawyer is no longer a God – he’s a mere mortal. In this form by choice.

I wondered what the final showdown would look like. I wondered about all the characters who have been picked up along the way Henry’s parents, Henry’s shifter siblings, the white tiger, Cecil…quite a crew, there to support Sawyer in the ultimate battle.

This series has had me riveted. I devoured it in mere days and didn’t want it to end. That’s mostly because of Macy’s great story telling, but it’s also because of Michael Dean’s amazing narration. I see they have a new series and I’m off to snag the first audio.

Fantastic ending to a great series

In each book, the story gets better and better. Again this book kept me gripped, and I loved it.

I love how we are getting more and more characters with each book, but they all link together so well. Plus, there's a lot of hot sex, and I mean a lot. But the imagination of Macy Blake is incredible. Each guardian is so different but sexy as hell, hence all the hot sex.

Sawyer has found his guardians, and his quest to remove all magic from his brother is his main task. However, whilst thinking about how to do this, he also has to accept that he will no longer be able to stay in this realm with his mates once the quest has been achieved.
Wait for the ending, and it will bring you the largest smile ever. This has been an incredible series and is a must-read for anyone who loves a bit of paranormal MM romance.

Again there is a lot of quite a lot of aggression and violence. OH, and some hot sex. Not sure if I mentioned that. Plus, we have MMMM+ action. Would I recommend it? That would be a yes... lol

The narration was on point, but Michael Dean never disappoints me. I did, however, speed up to 1.35 on Audible, which is my norm.

Superb

A superb addition to the series by Macy Blake that I did not want to leave, luck that there is spin offs. What a road following the special characters. Michael Dean did a fantastic job with the narration.

a fitting ending, but more please!!

Independent reviewer for Gay Romance Reviews, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is the final book in The Chosen One series, and you cannot read this as a stand alone book. Please make sure you read books one through four first.

I'm gutted this is the end, I really am!

As with every other book in the series, there are twists and turns, surprises and explanations that keep you on your toes.

Super SUPER smexy, with all 8 Guardians and Sawyer finally getting together in one go, and oh oh oh, so smexy but highly emotional. All the guys get a different, but very good, feeling, now they are all together.

Given as there are some major twists and truns, these reviews have been deliberately vague, cos SPOILERS baby, and I hope you do not manage to read any reviews with said spoilers, like I did. Didn't spoil my enjoyment of these books, just I kept waiting for that bit I had read to drop on me.

Is there a follow up? I'd love to catch up with thes guys now no one is trying to kill Sawyer, and things are settled.

Michael Dean has narrated the entire series. I cannot, in all honesty, pick anyone else who might have narrated this series better. And I'm gonna leave it at that.

Suffices to say, I bloody loved this entire series, and I will go back and read the shorts, followed by the Hellhound series, followed by The Chosen Champions series. I need more of this world in my life!

5 stars, for the book and the narration.

Unexpected and marvelous!

The final battle is upon Sawyer and his Guardians. I do not want to say much to avoid the possibility of spoilers. Just now that you need to plan for some uninterrupted time to thoroughly enjoy this story.

Michael Dean delivers again. Just so much talent.
