Summary
New Orleans. They call it the Big Easy, but there’s nothing easy about Jack Nightingale’s latest case. Dead usually means dead, but corpses are coming back to life and carrying out targeted killings. The supernatural detective is called in to investigate, and he soon discovers that Voodoo is behind the spate of murders.
Whoever is making the dead rise obviously has a plan - a plan so heinous that even the Devils of Hell are concerned.... But there are darker forces at work. And they have Nightingale in their sights. His life - and his soul - are on the line.

brilliant as always
I love these books!!! I only wish there were more of them. I've tried books of a "similar " style but nothing is as moreish as a Jack Nightingale story. Paul Thornley is the perfect narrator.

Jack's back.
Waited what seems like ages for this new Jack Nightingale novel love the whole series of the supernatural stories of the cop turned P.I ,fast paced and funny with hints of Weathley I would recommend these audio books and books to anyone that's a fan of the genre and am looking forward to more J.N from Stephen Leather.
Narration was great as usual if I had to fault it at all it would be just on two words New Orleans (nor'lins)and bayou (by-u) .
Brilliant books and narration hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Great Story
Like all of the Jack Nightingale stories, this was a great tale of good and evil. The characters were well drawn out, and the plot kept me listening. My one criticism is of the narrator. For the most part he was very good, but there was an exception, his pronunciation of the word "bayou". He kept pronouncing it as "bāy - oo", whereas the correct pronunciation is "bī - oo". As an American, I found this mispronunciation very distracting. Every time it was used - particularly when it was being said by one of the Southern characters - pulled me out of the story. Other than that it was a really enjoyable listen.

Loved it
Delighted to find this book, I’d listened to the earlier book quite some time ago. For some reason I didn’t notice this one being released. I was very happy to meet up with Jack Nightingale again after so long. Great story and fantastic narration.

Creepy
Jack Nightingale now a supernatural detective investigates the goings on in New Orleans the home of Voodoo, but Jack is sent to investigate the dead that seems to come back to life.
Jack who sold his soul to the devil on his 1st book which I read but has been very busy trying to get his soul back.
Not so much as a horror novel more chilling would be a better word as I have only read the 1st one and listen to this one which is the 9th so a bit of catching up to do.
The narrator Paul Thornley did a remarkable job on this audio a novel worth listening to.

It’s good, Jack Nightingale book’s always are.
This is a good book. But I can never enjoy the American books as much knowing how much better they’d be if Jack just moved back to England and the author brought back Jenny.
