About this listen

The popular and highly respected horse trainer Mark Rashid brings together Western and Eastern philosophies to demonstrate a seamless new incarnation of horse training. After years of helping "difficult" horses, Mark Rashid understands how to build the foundation of a horse's training and resolve any problems encountered along the way. He explains how he allows the traditionally firm or assertive approach of the old Western style to take some lessons from the softer conflict resolution and ego reduction approach that the Japanese martial art of aikido teaches. Rashid's ultimate goal is harmony between horse and rider.

Learning and reflection

Mark’s books always allows me to look at my life with horses and ‘realise’ the reason why. The three main horses in my life have always been ‘mind readers’. They have been horses I’ve had from foals or youngsters, so I’ve been their main person. This like all of his other books have touched home……. and given me a reason as to ‘why’. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience Mark Rashid.

Another beautiful book by Mark Rashid

Loved it. I've read it twice and Will refer to it periodically. As insightful as all of his other books.

Sound advice

A bunch of good horse sense delivered through engaging stories. Highly recommend all Mark’s books.

Utter nonsense

It is based on the old wife’s tale of the 3 brains in humans and calls it scientific! Science has long debunked the myth of the ‘reptilian’ brain - if the whole book is based on this pseudo science from the Middle Ages, you can’t take any of it serious - wish the author had read some actual science - shameful to sell it as such and make such claims.

OMG why insult us with this terrible narration?

I love Mark Rashid I really do, but he goes down in my estimation when he won't read his own books, and he allows them to be massacred by a narrator who can't string a sentence together. The bizarre long pauses in odd places in the middle of a sentence so ruin the flow of what he is saying it's impossible to listen to. Like watching your favourite horse be constantly jabbed in the mouth by a hard-handed rider!
