Stereotype cookie cutter

Not much to say about it. Same same. Personally won’t bother with following books in the series.
Narrator had good diction and a pleasant voice so that was a plus

That the author could tell a wholesome story without blasphemy or crude language! what a great listen!

Humour, crime and life. I can not wait to listen to the books of this author.

Good intro to a new heroine but...

The narrator ruined it for me as I had to really concentrate to notice a scene change!

Little content concerning the canals, ok story.

Very odd narration style with strange pronunciation of some words.
Although the main character lives on a boat and the various crimes involve boats, the story shows little knowledge of narrow boats or the canals. The story itself is ok.

Production very poor

I liked the idea-great to have canals/narrow boats featured but the production values were mediocre to say the least.
Mispronunciations were jarring and distracting so I had to keep rewinding. “Nouse” should rhyme with “house” not noose. “Soddering iron” is referred to twice so it can’t be a slur. “Path” report comes out as “parth”.
I could go on as there was at least one mispronunciation each chapter. Ironic given the protagonist is supposed to have an English degree from Ruskin College, Oxford 😂.
Shame really

Good listen

A few twists in the story - but not brilliantly narrated. Good start to the series.

Had to slow down the reading

The narrator read this in such a garble I had to slow down the narration. Much better when I had done this. I just wish she’d take a few more breaths!
Oh - it’s solder NOT sodder!!

Thoroughly enjoyable.

I have got used to the narrator although a few words still grate eg Darlia instead of Dahlia please it should should be Daylia!!!
That is a a small thing but surprising how many times it crops up in the series!
Overall well read and a book that keeps you wanting more and congratulations on the language ! Recommended for easy, but interesting, reading/listening
