About this listen
Steeple Martin sleuth Libby Sarjeant and her partner Ben are hosting a writers’ weekend reunion at Ben’s family home, The Manor, when a body is discovered in the grounds. Even though Scotland Yard is on the case, Libby feels impelled to investigate a murder on her home patch.
Their enquiries take Libby and her psychic investigator friend Fran Castle to historic Dorset, where they uncover a complex web of writers’ jealousies that has further tragic consequences before Libby uses all her wiles to get at the truth.
Lesley Cookman started writing almost as soon as she could read, and filled many exercise books with pony stories until she was old enough to go out with boys. After following a varied career as a model, air stewardess and disc jockey, she turned to writing short fiction and features for a variety of magazines, before graduating from the University of Wales with an MA in Creative Writing. She has taught writing for both Kent Adult Education and the WEA and edited the first Sexy Shorts collection of short stories from Accent Press in aid of the Breast Cancer Campaign. She lives on the Kent coast and has four grown up children and a passion for community theatre. She has written 10 titles in the Libby Sarjeant Murder Mysteries series and has also published How To Write A Pantomime.
What the Narrator Says
"Lesley Cookman's Libby Serjeant female sleuth series is a joy to read. I loved Libby and her best friend and psychic investigative partner, Fran. Their constant banter keeps you amused throughout their various crime-solving escapades. I felt as if I was part of the gang in "The Pink Geranium", the local restaurant, popping in to enjoy a few glasses of wine, a nice meal, and more banter with Libby's husband and various other pals, including the proprietors, Peter and Harry. Lesley Cookman draws you into Libby's world, spurring you on to share the next case and the next!" Deryn Edwards, narrator of the Libby Sarjeant Mysteries.

libby gets involved again
Any additional comments?
this time she can't help herself and being a year on from the previous story fran is once more involved in the research and questioning.
there is a list of all the people involved in the previous books to bring everyone up to date in who is related to who at the beginning which helps a lot.
enjoying this series very much and am so glad patience Tomlinson is back narrating the next in the series.

Narrator
I agree with the other review this narrator's impression of both Libby, Fran, Ben and Ian is very distracting. Bring back Patience Tomlinson please!

Libby's Voice!
I love this series but the way Libby's voice is being characterised in this audio is driving me nuts. She is being made to sound so spoiled you wonder how the others can put up with her.

Story not bad. Narration voice too shrill it grated on my ears.
Story ok but I listened to the audio version and did not like the pitch/shrillness of some of the female impersonations. It spoiled the story for me. A normal female voice would have been better.

Dreadful Narration
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Deryn Edwards?
Patience Tomlinson
Any additional comments?
This narrator's awful voice makes Libby sound like a right snotty cow. Far too sharp and snappy. Fran and Hetty's voices are awful too.

Awful
This narrator should be made to sit through this dreadful effort and then asked if it should be released under her name .
