Summary
In a world of lonely hearts, are there enough happy endings to go around?
Marriage matchmaker seeks assistant; discretion essential, rose-tinted glasses optional…Matchmaker Martha Hart never got her happy ending: the Great War destroyed those dreams. Instead, her life's mission is to bring hope to other lonely hearts, though eligible bachelors are thin on the ground in 1930s Yorkshire.
She hopes her new assistant, April McVey, will breathe new life into the bureau. The irrepressible Irish girl with the knack for putting her foot in it is full of modern ideas, but doesn't appear to have a romantic bone in her body.
When lonely widower Fabian, and his enigmatic sister require their help, the bureau face their toughest challenge. Are Martha and April about to discover that in the search for love, it's possible to find something else that's just as wonderful…?
‘A briskly witty delight’ Irish Times
'A charming treat of a novel, full of heart and hope' Hazel Gaynor

A Must Read
A well researched book as you would expect from this author.
Characters were convincing and the story had a twist that knowing Sheena wasn’t totally unexpected.
Looking forward to the sequel

Excellent escapism
A wonderful listen if you want to be transported to a different era, one that’s rarely written about and an unusual topic. Although it’s a light hearted galloping read, it touches a number of serious topics in a sensitive way, with well drawn imperfect heroines. So good to have a book as well where women take centre stage. I defy you not to have a tear in your eye at the ending.
Excellent narration with a variety of accents - she captured the Northern Irish accent very well.

A lovely listen
A most enjoyable, well crafted story. Readers accent slipped occasionally but it didn’t adversely affect the story.
