Summary

A heart-warming festive listen from the bestselling author of It's That Time of Year and The Restaurant

Emily loves the festive season. This year she's hosting a special Christmas lunch at her restaurant to celebrate with family and friends. But as the big day draws near, her plans begin to unravel ...

Emily and her partner Bill are happily raising his grandson Pip when Bill's troubled daughter Christine turns up out of the blue. She wants to pick up the pieces of her life, and to reclaim her son. Can Emily give up the boy she's come to love as her own? And how can she ask Bill to choose between the two women he loves?

Emily's best friend Heather is also dealing with unexpected arrivals: the mother she left behind as a teenager, who now needs her help, and a man she thought she'd never see again. But Heather wonders if these reunions will heal past wounds, or only disrupt the happiness she has now.

As Emily and Heather's lives become more and more complicated, will they find their way back to happiness and the people they love in time for Christmas Day?

wonderful!!

what can I say? I started listening and then Emily and the restaurant seemed familiar, then it clicked! so I revisited The Restaurant and listened to that again first., so glad I did, It was a bonus. Now of course I can revisit the book club and reacquaint myself with Tom and Lil. Love how some of Roisins books bring characters back together. Look forward to her next, maybe another visit to Roone? x

Interesting people and relationships

Another lovely book from this author, and absolutely beautifully narrated. It was nice to revisit characters from a previous book, and to continue their stories.

Revisiting old friends

I have read all of Roisin Meaneys previous books and was delighted when I started listening to this to hear the follow up story to some familiar names. It is narrated brilliantly and it was like putting on a warm and comforting jumper. Didn't want it to end.

Characterisation of Heather!

I'd have liked more life in reader's voice as in her portrayal of Heather. Most other characters had same monotone I felt.
