Summary

The third story in the Chris Ryan Extreme series. Disavowed.

No one can escape their past forever. Ex-SAS operator John Bald knows that better than most. So when the Firm corners Bald in Kazakhstan with a promise to wipe the slate clean, he reluctantly agrees to return to the frontline. His mission: hunt down a fugitive Russian oligarch suspected of murdering a beautiful young Westminster aide. Viktor Klich knows too much. Now Bald must catch Klich - before the Russian security services get to him first.

Desperate.

But what begins as a simple snatch-and-grab soon descends into a brutal fight for survival as Bald pursues Klich from the violent streets of Caracas to the brash glamour of Dubai, leaving a trail of blood and bullets in his wake. As he closes in on his quarry Bald finds his loyalties called into question. And when the mission goes wrong, he's accused of being complicit in a dangerous deceit.

Deadly. Now Bald is a wanted man. Only one person can help him: Viktor Klich, the oligarch he was ordered to kill. In a world where nothing is as it seems, Bald will have to call on all his skills to stay alive, protect his former enemy - and uncover a dark secret that goes right to the heart of the establishment....

The Chris Ryan Extreme series takes you even further into the heart of the mission with more extreme action, more extreme language and more extreme pace. Like Call of Duty or Medal of Honour you'll feel part of the team.

Not bad

At first, been used to josh cohan for the first 2 books, I hated this guy, different voices for the loved characters but I wanted to hear how the story of John and Joe went. You get used to it eventually and grow to love it. It may not be amazing, and seem like puppies following masters orders over and over again. But it's a good book. Can't wait to start the next one.

ok but predictable

good book but it was so very predictable, the series is starting to get very similar from story to story I'll try the next but may be the last if the story is as obvious as this one.

The lead character was a little gullible!

John Bold just kept believing everything anyone said to him the whole time and that almost spoilt the story line for me.

Ridiculous

Most Wanted. Oh dear.

If I was an ex-SAS operative I would be surely be induced to a psychopathic rage given the incredulous levels of stupidity, ineptitude and naivety of the supposed protagonists. I have 15 year old pants with less holes in them than the plot of this sorry tale.

Like a dopey old beaten dog returning to it's abusive master, these imbecilic ex "Regiment" soldiers keep being drawn in by the despicable Leo Land. What a stupid name.

Bald and Gardener, in repeated displays of next level daft, continue to believe Land, buying into his mental schemes, even though he keeps trying to have them kill each other, or be "slotted" in some other silly way. I keep asking myself "Why would you do that?", "How can you be so stupid? ", and "If Land is so clever , why involve these two dumb dumbs?". These questions are never answered.

All narrated in the style of a drunken cockney Danny Dyers' Hardest Men fan sat uninvited next to you in a pub, telling you all about how many fights he'd won.

To top it off this is only part one of the story, although, I admit, is entertaining at times, in the same guilty way watching an old lady fall off a pier is on You've Been Framed.

disappointing!

Any additional comments?

Entertaining, like the other 'extreme' titles, but not exactly a story-telling masterpiece. I would probably have given 4 stars for the classic chris ryan brand of descriptive violence, mixed with factual accuracy, but the ending was so disappointing I felt compelled to write my first ever book review!
NB: Not a spoiler alert, because there was no ending! You will need to wait for the next book before we find out how this story ends!
