Summary

Meet the Devil of Blackthorne Manor.

When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born.

Funny how things changed over time, how the fairytale twisted into something far more crooked—and darker—than I ever imagined.

In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

Lucian Blackthorne is as cursed as I am, and equally shunned by the locals, the fishers of men, who believe him to be the devil in the flesh.

Perhaps he is, with the way his amber eyes draw me in, ignite me like an infernal blaze. And the sins he whispers in my ear are as wickedly intoxicating as the man himself.

Yet, his touch is heaven and his will is my weakness.

He calls us forbidden, an unsalvageable tragedy, with no happy end. Maybe we are. But in this story, he’s the one who needs saving.

Master of Salt & Bones is a dark, modern gothic contemporary standalone romance.

Very Good

I went through this book in one hit. Really really good. I did have moments of epiphany where I realised the twists. But in all honesty it really did not ruin the story. So pleased it isn’t a series. There are so few good standalone dark romance books. I would truly give this a recommendation.

Captivating and spellbinding!

Please bear with me whilst I put into words how much I friggin loved this Audio version of Master of Salt and Bones.

Just blown away…I absolutely loved the book, it’s one of my all time top 10 reads, but this smashed it out the park for audios and is so far my all time favourite.

The Narrators have done an amazing job, really took me on an emotional journey, feeling all their pain.

Going back into this story again gave me goosebumps of excitement.

“him - a deity of wrath and flames, when I’m nothing but a mortal, playing with fire.”

I found myself from the off, intrigued, engrossed and a little bit obsessed as to what was going on in that Castle. It toyed with my mind, so many scenarios playing out.

This is a dark and mysterious story, with cruel and horrific events

Lucian is a mysterious man, with years of gossip and tales about him and his family strewn through the village.

Isa is trying to make ends meet when she takes a job at the castle, a companion to Mrs Blackthorne.

With mystery and speculation about the castle and family, it’s not long before Isa suspects things are not at all as they seem.

Captivating and spellbinding, my head was all over the place with possibilities throughout.

I needed to know, but didn’t want it to end. I couldn’t put it down.

I’m not ashamed to say I became a little enchanted even with all the darkness. I’m a little lost now.

Brilliant Storytelling

I very much enjoyed this book, the story was interesting & I love gasping at a book when I figure something out & there was a few of those moments in this book. It's extremely well written & had been on my TBR list for far too long.
The voice acting was great, it's dual narration & both do a good job of each other's voices, the accents were really good except the British one... sorry to say, but it doesn't last long, the rest is really good & will definitely keep my eye out for books narrated by either or both in future.

Even better in audio

I feel in love with this book when I first read it, so I was really excited when it came out on audible. This was so good, the narraters really bought the story to life!

Overall good

I could guess most of the twists, but overall a good story. It's not as good as Nocticadia which was my first book of Keri Lakes. I liked Lucians character, but there was a too quick obsession, not enough angst and push and pull for me. Still really enjoyed it and as with Nocticadia, finished it in just a few days :)

This was a great listen!

This was fab! The only thing I dislike is when the characters are prorated by both the male and female narrators. I loved Ryan West’s performance but feel his character of Lucien was lost when being portrayed by the female narrator and vice versa.
