Summary

Actor Adam Fischer doesn’t believe in second chances. Heartbroken after his boyfriend - ex-boyfriend - Charlie leaves him to chase a music career in LA, Adam decides to focus on his own career and forget about love. Meaningless hook-ups don’t keep his bed warm, though.

Fresh out of college, fashion designer Penn Shields can’t believe his luck when he lands a dream job as wardrobe assistant in Queen Victoria theatre. Not only that, but on his very first day he meets hottie Adam Fischer.

Who also happens to be his brother’s ex.

The last thing Penn wants is to follow in his brother’s footsteps, especially since they haven’t spoken in years. However, the attraction he feels for Adam grows with each day, and soon resisting it becomes impossible.

Adam and Penn complement each other’s personalities in ways that fit together like pieces of a puzzle. But they’re both struggling with issues beyond their control, threatening to destroy their relationship.

Are Adam and Penn strong enough as a couple - and individually - to fight for their love?

I loved the complex characters

When you hide behind a metaphoric mask, and live a fake life.

I really enjoyed the depth this author gave of two very different characters working their way to each other. Adam, a successful and popular member of the team at Queen Victoria Theatre, is in actual fact pretty broken. Worries of his mental health keeps him alone by choice. After the way his last boyfriend casually ended their relationship cemented the idea that he wasn't good enough for anyone at that time, so casual hookups was all he would do.
Penn, is a super talented, super nice young man. He takes one look at Adam on his first day at work and falls hard. Being the total opposite of Adam would he ever have a chance with the big guy? There are so many problems lurking around the corner for these two men that it would take persistence, some life altering changes and a good amount of grovelling to even be together at the same plaice. The chemistry between Adam and Penn is explosive, while the description of the theatre, the costumes and the team are all very realistic and colourful.
I enjoyed this story, especially all the efforts that the two men went to made this a special read.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed the story, the main characters work well together. The secondary characters are a welcome edition. My only problem is though the narrative was ok, I've never heard such a stilted English accent.

Fabulous!

Superb narration.

I enjoyed this story even more than Dance #1. It was great to hear more of Jared and Fenix's story and from a different POV.

My heart went out to both Adam and Penn and was brought to tears at several points in the story. Loved it!

Excited to hear Riley and Sonnie's story now.

Well read with plenty of twists in the story

I have really enjoyed these related stories by this author. Very much a series of related love stories with a series of other interesting characters in them outside of the main protagonists. I’ve listened more than once to each book

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Just as good as Dance!

Story: I loved the story of Adam and Penn so much! The author has great ability of pulling the reader into the emotions of the characters and it shows in this book so much! Both MCs were very thoroughly depicted and their development was well thought out. Great job!
Narration: The narrator did a great job with the characters. Easy to differentiate and it was a very pleasant voice to listen to. Spot on.
