Summary

Litany of the Long Sun contains the full texts of Nightside the Long Sun and Lake of the Long Sun that together make up the first half of The Book of the Long Sun. This great work is set on a huge generation starship in the same future as the classic Book of the New Sun (also available in two volumes from Orb).

The journey of Silk begins

I loved The Book of the New Sun but struggled with the prose and obfuscation of the sequel, The Urth of the New Sun. So I approached this series with trepidation fearing another challenging read/listen. It couldn't have been more different. Wolfe drops you into the fascinating world of Patera Silk with ease and skill and an approachable writing style. Its a slow burn to start with but the Wolfian complexity starts to build as the characters are developed and we discover more about the Whorl! The narration by Jason Culp is faultless, he really brings the characters to life with his subtle accents and narration style. Well done to Audible for combining the first two books into one volume; should have done the same with New Sun. Looking forward to reading the next volume.
