Summary
Everett
I'm the charming brother. The playful one. Damn good at my job, but I never take it too seriously. Life and death were just like playing cards dealt around a poker table. And the new job I accepted was just like any other. Until it wasn't.
My course changed the moment I met Arryn Lauder, an absolute hurricane of a woman, and my client's daughter.
But when the job goes wrong, and she becomes the new target on the underworld's hitlist, I do the one thing that could end us both. I take her.
She was determined to hate me, but she was always meant to be mine.
Arryn
Model. Heiress. Ice queen.
I was used to being disliked. I expected it even. So when Everett Avery shows up, with his charm and ridiculous good looks, I know to expect disappointment.
But then everything changes in one evening, as the only witness to my father's murder, my life becomes forfeited by the very same organization Everett works for. Except he doesn't want to cash in on the job, he wants to save me from it, even if that means taking me against my will.
I try to keep my distance, I know how these stories end, but the more time we spend together, the harder it is to deny.
Everett wanted me to be his. But fear keeps my heart locked in a cage.
This book is a dark small town romance and contains content some may find uncomfortable. A list of TWs are provided at the start of the book and also available on the author's website. It is intended for mature listeners, 18+.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Thrilling & Twisted!
Ria Wilde continues to blow me away with another amazing romantic suspense novel, the second in her “Ravenpeak Bay” series, a series of interconnected standalone novels. The first book, “These Rough Waters” featured Torin and Maya, and this book is Torin’s brother Everett “Rett” Avery and Arryn Lauder’s story, and picks up soon after the first book ended. I recommend starting the series with the first book, not only is it just as amazing as this book, but it is beneficial to be familiar with the characters that crossover into this story and seeing them again is like seeing old friends, not to mention it adds more depth. Everett has fully recovered from his injuries and takes on a job for Mr. Lauder, a hotel mogul and as soon as he saw his daughter, Arryn, he knew he had to have her. Arryn is a beauty, she is a model and has her own business, and is in line to take over her father’s business one day. She has not had the best luck with men, because most disappoint her, think she is all beauty and no brains, she assumed Everett would be the same. Everett is good at what he does and expects the job will go easy, but he was as wrong about that as Arryn’s assumption was about Everett. When all goes haywire and hits the fan, it is Everett who saves Arryn, though she does not know that at first and gives him a hard time. He brings her to the only place he knows he could keep her safe, to his cabin in Ravenpeak Bay. It was great to be back in Ravenpeak Bay and to see Torin and Maya again, and Harper, too. I absolutely loved how everything played out in this book, it is a cleverly plotted story with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. It was great to watch Rett and Arryn get to know each other and their relationship grow, they were fabulous together and for each other. There was a twist I never saw coming and I am looking forward to what comes next for the Averys and RavenPeak Bay.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Teddy Hamilton and Vivienne LaRue were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. LaRue grasped every aspect of Arryn’s personality, from her confidence to her strength and determination. Hamilton nailed it as Rett, and was a natural in that role, also confident, determined to get what he wants and very protective. Both were just as fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their performance elevates this already amazing story to another level.

storyline is well paced and narrators compliment the characters
Like A Hurricane is book 2 of the Ravenpeak Bay series by Ria Wilde - it's an interlinked standalone, so it can be listened to without book 1, but there are characters in this book from book 1 which will be massive spoilers if you aim to go back and listen to the first book.
This story is well paced and I felt the narrators matched the energy of the characters as written.
Excellent listen for fans of morally grey mmcs and fmcs that don't stand for egotistical alpha-male types!

Love this series!
What a story! I loved book 1 in this series and am so glad to have gotten Everett's story. He is an entertaining man to say the least! He is about family and he came back to Ravenpeak Bay to help his brother out. He was not ready to retire, his job was in his blood. And then he spotted her. Arryn, the daughter of his client. She is a whirlwind of a woman, independent, doesn't cower to anyone and does exactly what she wants. But when it comes to Everett, she can't tell him no. He is her kryptonite until life takes an unexpected turn and Arryn now becomes an assassination target. Determined to keep the woman he loves safe, he does what he has to. And she goes kicking and screaming. For days. But that doesn't stop the feelings growing. And the danger is coming. Will Ravenpeak Bay remain home? Or will it become a bad memory? This is not only a great listen, but the suspense remains high and the passion is off the charts. It's a book I couldn't put down and now I look forward to hearing Colton's story.
Teddy Hamilton gives off all the stalker, obsessive vibes as Everett. His voice is silky smooth and impossible not to enjoy as he wins Arryn over. Vivienne LaRue is perfectly cast as Arryn. She is stubborn and gives all the unwilling and willing feels as the story goes. I loved these two together, the way their voices compliment each other and the feelings they evoked. It's a listen not to be missed.

Back to Ravenpeak Bay
I enjoyed book one in this series and was looking forward to Rett's story and I was not disappointed! This has some of my absolute favourite tropes; he falls first, forced proximity and a shadowy organisation in the background while also linking back to the previous book. I liked Rett after seeing him with Harper in book one but I loved him in this; he is just the perfect blend of being a possessive alpha while still showing a sensitive side. The push and pull of him and Arryn kept me completely engaged throughout. I also liked how Arryn was not a pushover and continued to challenge him every step of the way and her relationships with the women from "These Rough Waters". Little Storm is also on the favourite nickname list too.
Vivienne LaRue is a new to me narrator and I enjoyed her performance as Arryn. Hearing Teddy Hamilton say "It kinda feels like flirting. Are you flirting with me princess? You don’t need to go to so much trouble, I’m yours" is one of many highlights in this book! The narration is so good - I usually prefer a duet style narration but this is a great duel with strong performances.
My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely and I have added all the authors works to my TBR

Great listen!
This was an enjoyable listen and one that captured my attention throughout. Everett is a skilled for-hire assassin and Arryn is a model, hotel heiress, and known as the ice queen. Their paths cross when Everett is hired by Arryn's father to take care of his competition. One glance at Arryn and Rhett is enamored with her - using his skills to track her every move and find out every detail he can. What should have been an easy job becomes complicated and Rhett kidnaps Arryn to keep her safe. Rhett had a gentleness and caring side when dealing with Arryn or his niece but then his other side was the hard/strong/ cold assassin. Overall, this was a great listen that is filled with suspense, twists and turns, spice, drama, great banter, and a sassy heroine. I loved that we were able to catch up with Torin and his family, and the glimpse into the next book for Kolt has me intrigued.
I was thrilled with the casting for this audiobook! Teddy Hamilton and Vivienne LaRue did a great job bringing out the emotions and making the story come to life for me. I felt their voices meshed nicely together and gave me an exceptional listening experience.

Well paced, plenty of drama
Ohh I was looking forward to reading Rett’s story after completing the first book in this series. This is everything you want in a dark romance! The story is well paced with drama, action, twists and tension. Rett and Arryn have excellent chemistry. Rett’s utter devotion to Arryn is fantastic to witness- there js nothing he wouldn’t do to for her. Arryn is my favourite thoe of heroine- smart and knows her mind. These two together were magic! Loved this.
I loved the audio version of this too with Teddy Hamilton and Vivienne LaRue. They brought the story and characters to life for me and it was a wonderfully immersive experience
