Depuis quatre mois, cette phrase accompagne les cercles qui surgissent à la nuit, tracés à la craie sur les trottoirs de la ville ; au centre de ces cercles, prisonniers, un débris, un déchet, un objet perdu : trombone, bougie, pince à épiler, yaourt, patte de pigeon... Le phénomène fait les délices des journalistes et de quelques psychiatres qui théorisent.
Le commissaire Adamsberg, lui, ne rit pas. Ces cercles et leur contenu hétéroclite "suintent" la cruauté. Il le sait, il le sent : bientôt, de l'anodin saugrenu on passera au tragique.

Excellent! Gripping story, as always with Vargas.

The character of Adamsberg is introduced, and he is described in detail at certain points in the story. His lieutenant Danglard too. The ending is perhaps a bit far-fetched - but who cares! Well read by Jacques Frantz.

Personnages fascinants, dialogues excellents

J'ai bien aimé le scénario, mais ce qui m'a le plus plu, ce sont les personnages marquants - notamment Mathilde - et les dialogues vivants et idiomatiques. J'apprends la langue française et c'était bien d'entendre le roman lu si clairement.
