A beautifully written story worth every moment.
One of my favourite Julie Klassen novels. It was a more difficult story, but full of characters I could care for.

Fabulous
I really enjoyed this book, it was so well written with all the influences of Jane Austen and the Brontë sisters, and I can’t wait to start her next one.

Wonderful story
I'm a committed atheist but I put up with the mumbo jumbo as Julie Klassen tells wonderful stories so beautifully. Excellent narration.

Inner Strength
I admire the strength it took to endure, with grace, the rejection from family. From society. The sacrifice of being a mother, over and over again. the way, in the book, God worked things out when life seemed hopeless. It made me think about, again, the consequenses of our choices. the decisions we make and their lasting effects on us, tjose around us, our minds, our hearts, our souls.
thank you for this historical work. it was well written, well read and I thoroughly enjoyed it while learning from it as well.

Great historical novel
This story was so interesting, with so many quotes referring to the rearing of infants. I learnt so much about the use of the Wet Nurse and what this poor women had to endure to ensure the survival of their own child and themselves. The romance running through this story was so soft and kind and showed what a lady of those days had to suffer if they fell from grace. This strong women of the past pathed the way for the women of today and the future.

what a lovely satisfying story.
A beautiful story reflecting the spirit of the age and sad situation of unmarried mother's. This is a story of redemption and the grace of God, with a satisfying conclusion.

Unusually good narration by a man of a 'woman's ' romantic period novel
A shame the plant in the title is not a native to the UK, where the story is set! Monarch butterflies also. Modern phrases, like 'placing an ad', are irritating, but the story is compelling and enlightening.
