About this listen
If it’s not weddings, then hapless widows are expected to attend christenings … Lady Violet returns with St. Sevier to her family seat, and finds Derwent Hall at sixes and sevens upon the occasion of her nephew’s christening. Other guests have brought their children along to celebrate the occasion, and Sebastian MacHeath is on hand to serve as godfather.
Nobody seems to be getting along, despite the happy nature of the gathering. Summer heat builds to an unbearable crescendo as clandestine affairs, marital troubles, and family tensions escalate. Then somebody starts kidnapping little girls, and Lady Violet must figure out who, why, and how the kidnapper can be foiled.

Best book in series to date <3
I do believe that this is one series that should be read in order, which I failed to do beginning at book#2 and do hope the final book becomes an audiobook soon!
I did begin this series as a backgound listen while doing a repetitve project. However although agree a cosy mystery, the main theme for me is the development of the main characters which have crept up on me, and is truly required to understand the depth of this book.
Narrator is a personal choice with audiobook, especially to the British ear but audio books are geared to an american market. The characters can be distinguised and allowed me to enjoy the story and progress to the next book and, therefore, the series.
