Summary

Climb the Tower. Feed the Town.

Blackmoor Cove has been pulled back from the edge of oblivion, but that doesn’t mean the fight is over. While the all-consuming Corruption pushes harder against their progress, Jack embraces his new responsibility to rebuild the broken people around him. However, none of it will last unless he enters the Tower every morning and defeats the vicious monsters within for their valuable loot drops.

With the Arcane Mage, Thymus, now in the party, they will climb higher than ever before, but will the 12 years of terrible isolation make the time-lost Hero unreliable when he once again confronts the unending nightmares found inside the Tower?

This “Crunchy” GameLIT/LitRPG story contains: item-based game mechanics, town building, countless unique monsters, boss fights, and cheaty special abilities.

starting to become repetitive

I loved book 1 but unfortunately in between the story profession are the fights which have become too samey for me. that being said I am still looking forward to book 3 and seeing where the story goes.

This is a great series

Great addition of the mage that was stuck for 12 years in the tower. I wonder what level the gang will end up as and what level his sword is going to be,

If you liked the first...

...then this is more of the good stuff. A 100 floor tower could get samey but the author uses the growth on the town and development of chracters and their relationships to keep you interested. The audio performances really help too.

The Climb Continues.

So, this is a great follow up to the first book. building on the characters, the town and the world that was shown in the first. You really see the characters grow and change based on the events in the world and how they would react according to their personality.

lingering questions remain about the Corruption and what is going to happen but to me, Irrelevant Jack II was ultimately a peaceful read. The tension ramping up in the last few chapters as the set up for the next book takes form.

As always Soundbooth Theatre does a superb job bringing the characters to life. The voices of all those in the town being distinct and clear who is speaking. The sound quality is superb and the different voice actors flow naturally into each other with perfect editing.

Definitely recommend for those who enjoyed the first book and plan to go through the series.

Wonderfully entertaining

The characters have fleshed out a bit , the story has evolved and Jacks ignorance which used to annoy me has now gone and a leader has arrived to help lead the town into the higher levels. Things have got exciting and so the narration flies along with a lot more ease now with the niggles i had with the first audio gone.
I feel like the tale has gotten more of my attention and that the series has a lot more legs to it and im moving onto audio 3 a lot more confident in what i will be enjoying.
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts.

Climb the Tower

Carries on from book 2 with more of the same, traversing a tower over and over to increase gear quality and give the rest to fuel the town to repel the demons. Jack starts to increase his team to venture further up the tower and tries to increase to towns defences.

I did find that the loot descriptions went on a bit much.

Soundbooth do a great job with a nice cast of narrators.

The second leg

This is the second book in the series.
Following the adventures of Jack, trapped in a mine collapse, and taken as energy to a new world, where his ‘out the box’ thinking helps fight back the corruption of the land and gain further levels in the tower.
There is actually too much to say that would be a massive spoiler for those reading this series, suffice it to say that this is an engaging story rife with character relationships and developments that keep you reading / listening.
I particularly enjoyed the audio book version, which is more of a full production, than a straight read, with different voice actors and sound effects. There are several gaming platform releases that will be recognised by the listener throughout the tower crawls, and some that are from the purely weird imagination of the author.
I am eagerly awaiting the next release.
