About this listen
When a body is discovered in the water at the Falls of Lora, it looks like a straightforward suicide. But when DCI Christine Caplan's superior officer alerts her to similarities with a locked case - and a legal minefield - she discovers that darker truths lurk beneath the surface.
'Girl A' was convicted of murdering three people when she was a child. Now she's missing and a man is dead. The top brass are screaming for a quick resolution, and Girl A is a media sensation and a risk to herself as well as others. The clock is ticking for DCI Christine Caplan to bring her to justice - but the truth may be darker than even she fears . . .

Superb follow up to The Devil Stone
I loved the first book in Caro Ramsay's new series so was eager to start this one, and it didn't disappoint! It starts slowly and then the pace really picks up. The storyline about a child, known as Girl A, who murdered at least one of her siblings and a friend, and has now been released from prison, is very dark and disturbing with references to child and animal abuse. Ramsay also deals sympathetically with issues of mental health. There are plenty of twists which kept me guessing, and this is an excellent police procedural.
Christine Caplan is back in Cronchie and working with her team from The Devil Stone, and I love how the relationships are starting to develop. I hope we'll see a lot more of them in future books.
The book is excellently narrated by Kristin Atherton.

Great new series
This is the second in the new DCI Christine Caplan series and just as I hoped it was excellent, I am a huge fan of Caro Ramsay, she never disappoints I loved her Anderson and Costello series great characters that you really cared for and it looks like this series is as good, mind you I miss Costello, she was one of my favourites. Lots of twists and turns and you actually feel you are part of the investigation team, good insight into mental health care system, I’m loving the new character of officer Craigo, and his relationship with Christine, just miserable that I have to wait a while for the next one
