Summary

Tom Keeler finds himself in the town of Promise, Indiana. He just needs to drop off a package, then he can get back to the Florida sunshine.

But nothing’s ever that simple. The package gets stolen; things get complicated.

Linda Cartwright’s a happily married woman, and then someone tried to kill her on her own front lawn.

Why would they do that? Good question.

Keeler’s interested, but Cartwright won’t talk about it. When Cartwright’s attacked a second time, Keeler begins to suspect that she’s in over her head. She’s a tough lady, but even tough nuts crack.

And it’s not only Cartwright. Bad things are happening to regular folk, all over the town of Promise.

Behind every bad deed are bad people.

And when bad people get murderous, Keeler takes it to the next level.

Good Lee Child imitation

Good Lee Child imitation and great idea to use the same narrator. The only annoyance is that the author really goes overboard on the "I said nothing" routine.

Was this actually written by Lee Child?

I thoroughly enjoyed the book but was bemused at how incredibly similar it was to Reacher novels, down to “ that’s for damn sure “.
Surprised Lee Child hasn’t taken out an action for plagiarism .

Meet the new Jack Reacher

With the Jack Reacher books inevitably running out of steam - and quality - I was pleased to find this series. Similar character but enough differences to breathe new life into the ex-military hardass drifter genre.

5 stars

Anything narrated by Jeff Harding is going to be good - that guy could read the telephone book and make a great story out of it. But on this occasion he had a great book to work with. I found Jack Lively by accident and because Jeff was the narrator decided to give it a try and glad I did. Tom Keeley is fab new character with elements of Jack reacher but with a personality all his own. Lively pulls you into the story bit by bit, building the excitement and the storyline, starts as one thing and evolves into a whole different thing. I listened well into the night as I just couldn’t turn it off. Great listen and I would think a great read also.

Aka Jack Reacher

the usual brilliance from the Childs family and Jeff Harding - now set up for another 20 plus books - is Jack Reacher about to be killed in next book

Like Reacher but probably better

So if you've read or listened to any Reacher novel you'll find this familiar. Keeler is a slightly more personable character though. Talks a little more, shows a little more emotion, uses slightly more imaginative wordplay, possibly more action but Keeler definitely enjoys confrontation more.

Others have complained that this series is just like Lee Child's Reacher. True, it's very similar, but honestly...what's wrong with that? I say nothing. Give me more!

Best so far

Good story I still can’t break with the Reacherisms but I’ll take it. Lee Child should’ve hired Jack Lively & not his son

Decent Story

This is similar to reacher, just not as good but still an enjoyable listen with surely the best narrator.
