Summary
All my life, I’ve trained to kill shifters, and now I’m one of them.
My parents were murdered by wild packs, but the Lux Academy saved me and raised me among other orphans like me. They taught me the shifters’ savagery and how to destroy them. But, everything changes when I’m pulled into a life among the packs, my sworn enemies.
They think I’m the alpha for their powerful triad - a group of three wild werewolves with iridescent stares and indomitable hearts, one of which thinks I’m his fated mate. But, I care nothing about triads and their brutal ways, and I definitely don’t care about the possessive shifter that tells me I’m his at every turn.
No matter how sexy he is, I will never be his. My only hope is to escape, and neither their guards, spells, nor my twisted fate will get in the way of my escape.

Howl of a great story
I enjoyed this listen. The author took a story and ran with it . Ingrid The author wrote a book with well detailed and description .heroine is Jazmin
Jasmin is an orphan after her parents were killed. She later found out that they were killed by shifters. Her world is turned upside down and crashed. Everything and everyone she trusted turned on her , betrayed on her . Little does she know her world will change , she meets three men. Little does she know that they are shifters . Will she turn. Will they confince her. How does she about them being shifters
Emma Lysy performance is great. She’s smooth first time I listened to her.

Jaz has her world turned up side down and has to learn what where lies and what are the really truths are. I found it easy to listen too and the book was finished too soon need the the next on now ... lol

I could not put this down
This story is so exhilerating and unique! Without spoiling too much, you think you know what's going to happen but trust me, you don't. You are in for a serious ride..
I really enjoyed this story and how it is set in the Sunderverse Universe (I've also listened to the Mate Tracker) but the take is quite different, here the popular belief is that all supernaturals are will savages and needs to be eradicated. This contrasts wildly to the rest of the world, where Skews and Stales (non-magical people) co-exist peacefully. I loved Jaz, she is a great and believeable character - resilient, fierce and very protective. I also loved the interaction between the triad and Jaz. I cannot wait to see what Ingrid for Jaz, Kall, Maki and Novuk in the next installment.
Emma Lysy did a great job voicing the characters, first time I listened to her and I enjoyed it. Very smooth narration.

Good new series
Lux academy isn’t what students think it is they have been manipulated by teachers to think shifters ,vampires and witches are evil . Great start to the series I’m looking forward to the next book .

Exciting debut of a compelling new series
All my life, I’ve trained to kill shifters and now I’m one of them…
Following the death of her parents at the hands of wildlings (shifters), orphan Jazmin Brontë has been raised by the powers that be at Lux Academy along with her best friend Valentino Ferro. The Academy situated in Lux City believes that all supernaturals are perverse and need to be eradicated from their lands. This is in contrast to the rest of the world where Skews and Stales (non-magical) co-exist peacefully.
Jazmin aspires to be one of the chosen initiates selected during the Reaping, who are later assigned as apprentices to an allocated Magistrate following their graduation. Apprentices revel in the completion of their codas which then enables them to cast magic. On the night of The Last Day of Indulgence, however, an encounter with three wolves who attempt to abduct her sets in motion a chain of events that will change her life forever.
Howl of the Rejected is the first compelling instalment of the spin-off Wild Pack series which is set in the Sunderverse universe. The plot revolves around Jazmin, an orphan who finds herself questioning everything she has been brought up to believe following a traumatic event which she barely survives. As she tries to carve out a new destiny, she struggles to come to terms with the sense of betrayal she feels - even as a part of her feels beholden to those that raised her. Despite her efforts to warn Val about the fate of the initiates who fail to graduate, her pleas fall on deaf ears making it apparent that a lifetime of being systematically brainwashed will take time to reverse.
I enjoyed the interaction between Kall, Maki, Novuk and Jazmin. For some reason, I had a soft spot for Maki. The Chieftess is an intriguing enigmatic character whose behaviour I found myself questioning at times. It will be interesting to learn more about her backstory and motive as the books progress.
Ingrid has once again scored a home run with this addictive compelling debut which gripped me from the first page and never let go. Her clever plotting and intricate multi-layering of not only the vivid world she creates but also of the wonderful characters she brings to life is one of the reasons she’s at the top of my list of urban fantasy writers. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for Jaz and her Triad in the next instalment.
Ideal for fans of urban fantasy, shifters, mages, witches, academies, prophecies, fated mates, secret societies etc, etc
Emma Lysy did a fine job in bringing the characters to life with her clear and concise narration.

loving the world building and characters
I enjoyed this story. Jaz is an orphan and has been attending the Lux academy, learning to fight against the Wildings. She is then betrayed and her world is turned upside down. She can't trust anything she thought she once knew.
Jaz is a great character, she is fierce, protective and resilient. I found her believable as she didn't just turn around and believe the things she was being told by the Wildings, she waited for proof and even then was still unsure. Kall, Maki and Novuk didn't necessarily make things easy for her, but we're still supportive and protective.
I enjoyed the world building, it was easy to understand and follow. The Lux academy was almost cult like, training orphans to 'defend' the city. Then there are the Wildings, made up of the supernaturals, who live a more free existence but are constantly defending themselves.
I've not read any other books/series in this world but I didn't feel like I was missing out of anything either. I definitely want to read more from this series after the way book 1 ended.
The narration was easy to understand and was enjoyable to listen to.
