Summary
Animals are the direct product of their environment. They reactively evolve over time based on external circumstances. The process of their evolution is slow and random. Human beings are the indirect product of their environment. Although the environment is the medium through which humans adapt and evolve, our choices determine our environments. This is the fundamental difference. We get to decide the course and intensity of our personal evolution by intelligently designing our environments. By purposefully embracing difficult environments, and by cultivating highly conscious habits, you will actualize as a human being and experience complete freedom over the direction of your life.

Best Summary of knowledge I've read for 2 years
I've read probably 40 productive/business/self improvement books in the past 2 years.
This book has taken all the best parts of them and put it together.
Full of great advice which we all should take!

Mixed feelings
I have very mixed feelings about the content of this book. The advice is not generally applicable and needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
If you are a young man raised in America by clueless but otherwise benevolent (not too bad) parents who are willing to accept you and even learn a few things from you, then this book is perfect for you. I'm not 🙂
A warning: the author highlights how he took a leap of faith and gave up a tedious job to become a full-time writer and how feeling responsible for his family motivated him to succeed in this endeavour. But in the credits of another book, he thanks his in-laws for financially supporting him and his family during those times. So, not so much of a leap of faith, in my opinion, but a plunge took while knowing someone had his back.
He speaks about the risks he took, but at the same time, it's clear he had tonnes of support. The kind of support I, for example, never had and never will have, and not because I'm lazy or a coward.
So, in modern terms, he is a bit privileged and speaks from this perspective 😉 But otherwise, he's smart and a good guy.

good listen/read
I loved the practical advice the author gives. It's really motivational (only if the author didn't request 15 words for the review...)

Really helpful tips!
Really loved this book. It’s written well and in accessible, down-to-earth language. I also enjoyed the narration.
Well done to both the author and the narrator, I definitely recommend!

a lot of repetition, but repetition ain't bad
to learn something you need to hear it a lot of times. but I feel like the book could be quite a bit shorter. although the information inside is a great summery of all the great ideas and books out there. it's good te refresh on previous read books and hear how everything is applied in life. definitely going to pick up my book and start journaling and setting goals

Glad I didn’t pay
I didn’t learn anything new here. Nothing fresh here. Very basic advice. Not greatly supported by science. Glad I didn’t pay for this audiobook. I enjoy watching the author on YouTube but I found this book disappointing. Will continue to follow.
