About this listen
A world abandoned by the gods, mystifying cosmic forces, unimaginable power for those willing to ascend, and a hero who would rather . . . go fishing???
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all.
Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.
Unfortunately for Fischer, cosmic forces rarely care for mortal feelings. He's hounded on all sides by inept cults, conspiring nobles, and more magical misunderstandings than those of a preteen relationship. Even his dutiful pet crab is firing energy blades like an anime antagonist.
So grab your fishing rod and a good snack, and pet your dog for me. The catch of a lifetime awaits!
The first volume of the laugh-out-loud LitRPG adventure series—a #1 Rising Star on Royal Road with over three million views—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

“I can’t think of a single story I’d rather get truck-kun’d (truck-kunned?) into than [that of] the vivid, lush world portrayed in Heretical Fishing, especially if I can hang out with Fischer and his gang. . . . The best book I’ve read this year.” —Matt Dinniman, author of Dungeon Crawler Carl

Brilliant story
Great story. A mix of He Who fights with Monsters and Beware of chicken. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have pre-ordered book 2.

A tale that includes a crab into S & M, you're going to have listen now
Absolutely enjoyed it 5 stats all around, a proper storyline no going from one ridiculous battle with silly creatures to another ridiculous battle with even more ridiculous creatures. None of the constant stream of incoherent stats that ruin other stories and that make little sense. I highly recommend this book

The misunderstandings were hilarious
Great book packed with references, humour, chill pace and no clear power levels. It reminds me of Beware of Chicken. This is a very funny book.

Great book and really fun and easy going MC
The characters of this book’s has a good MC
Great and interesting story, not much of plot twists though it’s due to fun and happy characters with quick comments, pastries and bubbles of joy. This book is so feel good I wish it was longer. Lookingforward to book 2 and beyond.
The narrator is as always awesome at his job, and brings the characters, situations and not to mention the joy of fishing to life.
Hope you enjoy this book as much as I have!

I really enjoyed this
I liked everything about this. It was like Beware of Chicken meets Footloose. The book made me laugh out loud on multiple occasions and I liked the setting, characters and plot. I disliked how there was a multi-tiered currency structure with gold at the top yet gold was what the MC used in most transactions but that's just a trope of all fantasy books.
The narration was great and I'm really looking forward to book 2.

Mate…Mate…Mate…Mate…Mate…Mate…..
Dont let the title put you off. On his abrupt death our hero finds himself in a different world. I found the MC very likeable and this is emphasised well by Heath’s wonderful narration.
Nothing is really ‘new’ in this Isekai book - the hook (so to speak) is the new worlds religions/gods or lack of and our hero’s emerging role in a small society. There is lots of scope for more well building and adventures as many threads are left open.
I found this book enjoyable and comfortable, looking forward to more.
