About this listen
Within every community, toxic people can be found hiding in families, couples, companies, and places of worship. The cryptic nature of psychological abuse involves repetitious mind games played by one individual or a group of people. Psychological abuse leaves no bruises. There are no broken bones. There are no holes in the walls. The bruises, brokenness, and holes are held tightly within the target of the abuse.

One of the best books on narcissistic abuse I've read
Having grown up as the scapegoat in am incredibly abusive family, with whom I'm now no contact, I read a lot of self-help and have ups and downs in my recovery. This book is one of the best I've discovered. It's honest, frank, realistic and yet hopeful. It's written by a survivor who understands the topic first hand ad well as therapeutically. Highly recommend.

A very detailed and true description of Narcissistic Abuse
Felt very true to what I have experienced and found this audiobook insightful and a balm to my heart and soul. Highly recommended. Narration is also soothing and the perfect pace for me.

A very very helpful book
This helped me understand that several very different behaviours were symptomatic of one overall problem and whilst she largely describes quite extreme (ten) types of behaviour she makes the point that there are degrees so you might only be seeing 5's. The title is 'Healing from....' so don't expect a magic potion about dealing with the behaviour, that is only going to happen if the person involved chooses to do something about it. I found the book really helpful in terms of understanding the nature of the problem and how I deal with the issues going forward within myself.

Really engaging and able to describe complex relationship grief grief
great little audiobook. She really understood how to put into words what you feel so crazy about in the moment it happens. This audiobook made me realise so much about myself

Good but more thought for range of listeners
Good book but I wish the author would stop using the blanket term of 'personality disordered' to describe these narcissists who commit this abuse. I have Borderline Personality Disorder but absolutely have empathy and care for others. I have been the victim of hidden emotional abuse, one of the reasons why I have the condition in the first place. I relate to everything in this book and do find it helpful but also triggering when an author lumps everyone with a personality disorder in together, which then makes us with BPD feel more invalidated and adds to the shame we already feel and the stigma that surrounds our condition.

A fantastic book for everyone!
Easy to understand and very encouraging for everyone who has been thru hidden abuse, knows someone who has and/or for everyone else so they know what to watch out for. The book is written in a very empathetic and comforting tone and that is exactly what is needed. The narrator did a really good job. You feel so good after reading this book! The stages of healing are so well explained so you know exactly where you are at and the important parts are repeated now and then thru the book. A must read!! Thank you Shannon for your fantastic work! I do appreciate it very much❤️

Good psychology book, gets tiresome with the ads
It's a decent psychology compilation of everything you can find in youtube and other sources for narcisistic abuse, I found that I already knew most of it but it was still good. My main issue with this book is the constant ads, she tries to push you all the time to look for book study groups to discuss this same book, and refers you to her website over and over again, for god's sake I get less ads watching youtube psychologists explaining just the same thing.
The narrator has this condescending tone that it's way too annoying. It's not a bad book if you can spare the credit, otherwise just save it.
