Summary

Ten haunting tales of the ghostly, decadent, and supernatural by Adam Nicke, author of Temptation and Denial.

Written in the style of late 19th century masters of the macabre, each weirdly twisting tale is haunted by characters confronting their inner turmoil and the dark recesses of the soul.

Escape the modern age and let the lush, sensuous language in this audio wash over you as gently as the crimson hues of twilight on an early Autumn evening.

Cult collection available again after 22 years. Best listened to by candlelight.

Grim fairy tales on audio

I have just finished listening to these wonderful stories and I enjoyed every one of them.
I was lost in each story and would love some of them to continue on.
Adam Nicke is a brilliant author and I would recommend this audio to anyone who wishes to escape for a while.

Grim but addictive reading

Having sat here listening to this book I found myself lost in the whole narrative of it, it’s true this book should be listened to by candlelight in a small cosy cottage on the side of a costal Cliff top with a warm inviting fireplace, I didn’t have the pleasure of such surroundings so I quietly lay down closed my eyes and listened, I found my self taken away with the stories I could envision myself in every scene as an onlooker that was just slight hidden out of sight, I found them to be intriguing while some made be wince and made my hairs stand on end others made me feel sad and tear up almost like I was feeling the pain and sadness of the characters, overall the book is a great read even though only short I definitely would recommend very thought provoking and a great use of words that seem to poetically string along and even though I must admit I had never heard of some of the words I found myself understanding them,,, crazy!!
