Very enjoyable

Having listened to books 1 and 2, I'm about to download book 3. I will recommend this series to friends. I'm enjoying the plot, characters and their development. John Telfer's narration is excellent.

Really interesting with some humour

What I liked about this book was that despite not having read the 1st book in the Tide Lords series, I was able to pick up the storyline and get into it; I found it really engaging. I loved the subtle humour here and there - I had a few "laugh out loud" moments. I enjoyed the strength of the characters and the steady build-up in the storyline and I was compelled to get the follow-up books.
However, I was disappointed with the last two books in this series. The storyline although somewhat complex, slowly loses its finesse in the last 2 books, almost as if it was not thoroughly thought through and made up along the way, throwing in more characters and twists in a chaotic manner while dragging out the story!! Unfortunately, on the whole, the scenes or the fictional worlds were/was not sufficiently or creatively described to inspire belief and imagination.
The narrator was ok, but his voice variations seemed somewhat limited thereby not able to keep up and give the numerous characters distinctive voices, especially in the last 2 books as the interaction and number of characters increase.

Fascinating, leaves you wanting more NOW!

Would you consider the audio edition of Gods of Amyrantha to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version, but enjoyed the audio version very much. Very easy to listen to and narrator was vety good.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the fact that even if you suspect something is a little off, you can still be surprised when the twist is laid out for you. That really makes a book more enjoyable for me.

What does John Telfer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I personally really enjoy the way he reads. And I feel that he gives the caracters life, slight changes in tones makes each character have a voice of their own, which is nice, even if they have not said who is talking I know which character is speaking, which means I don't have to keep going back to figure who is talking. A big plus for me.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Gripping, and leaves you waiting and wanting more.

I stumbled onto this author while looking for something else, glad that I did. Look forward to reading and listening to more from her.

Very enjoyable, good second book

I liked the first book and I liked this one. The characters are quite interesting, the intrigue is there and the story is fast paced. The setting is quite appealing and the way the immortals deal with their immortality is deep, giving it another dimension, in addition to just a fast paced adventure. And the funny moments are brilliant. It is always a pleasure when a book makes one laugh.

Can’t stop listening to!

Book 2. Greater depth, intriguing ending. Just downloaded book 3. The narrator adds to the atmosphere and it’s easy to follow the characters as they appear.

Great idea, but not made the most of.

Despite its captivating premise of immortals locked in an eternal struggle, this book series falls short of delivering a truly immersive experience for me. While the concept of powers waxing and waning with a magical tide is intriguing, the execution lacks depth. The characters feel superficial, lacking the development needed to truly engage the reader. Instead of delving into complex personalities, the narrative relies heavily on standard tropes and clumsily incorporates modern social concerns, ultimately detracting from the overall enjoyment of the story. While the world-building shows promise, the lack of meaningful character development leaves much to be desired.
