About this listen

New York Times bestselling author Elle Kennedy brings her signature angst, drama, and humour to a new standalone romance.

When nineteen-year-old Abbey Bly gets the opportunity to study abroad for a year in London, it's the perfect chance to finally slip out from under the thumb of her beloved but overbearing retired rock star father. She's ready to be free, to discover herself - but first off, to meet the girls she's rooming with. That is, until she arrives at her gorgeous new flat to discover those roommates are actually all boys. Charming, funny, insufferably attractive boys. And off-limits, with a rule against fraternizing between housemates after unwanted drama with the previous girl.

Abbey has never considered herself a rulebreaker. But soon, she's lying to her father about her living situation and falling for not one, but two men she can't have: her rugby-player roommate and a broody musician with a girlfriend. Not to mention, her research for school has gotten her tangled in a deeply hidden scandal of a high nobility family, surrounding her in secrets on all sides.

If there's any hope of Abbey finding love, answers, or a future in London, she'll have to decide which rules - and hearts - might be worth breaking...

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

The story is horrible, i am a really big fan of Elle Kennedy and absolutely LOVE her off-campus and Briar U series, so when I saw she was coming out with a new book i didn't even think twice about buying it, the blurb sounded like it would be just up my ally too, - but that was a mistake.

The writing is terrible, the MC has a famous dad and that seems to be most of her personality, the 2 guys that she has a thing for like her back instantly (insta love) there is no connection, no build up one of them is "dark and mysterious" all the time (or that was she was going for) but it completely missed the mark, instead of it being positive and attractive, you end up not caring about the character, the other guy is already in a relationship but the MC is already in love with him before she has even spoken to him and if they ever have a scene together half the time she is thinking about how off-limits he is and how hot he is (this can be good if it is well executed - but this is not the case)

(Spoiler)
Then all out of the blue both boys about halfway into the story, without having a connection with the MC at all or any charming scenes maybe besides one each is ready to leave everything behind for her, it all seems forced and not genuine at all.

and not even to mention her quest to find out a tragic history about a girl in a painting she finds at a "yard sale" where she ends up being invited to a royal ball after having lunch with a British royal about the painting one time and almost making out with him.

this story seems rushed, not well thought out and overall a complete mess. it should either have been double the length so the MC could build up a connection with the guys or Elle Kennedy should have worked on it a little bit longer so it actually could be good (bc 12 hours for a romance book should honestly be enough space/time to do all of the things above better)

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
