Summary
I stand at the front door and meticulously check my reflection in the glass. I must look perfect to meet Lou’s new boyfriend. I haven’t been invited but best friends don't require invitations, right?
Scott's arrival coincides with Donna's, leaving me with no choice but to welcome her in, though I've made it clear she's an unnecessary addition to today's gathering. This meal is about introducing Scott to my mother and daughter – a fact Donna conveniently ignores.
As the introductions unfold, it's evident that Donna has taken a liking to Scott. Mum's quizzical expression in the kitchen speaks volumes –
Why is Donna here?
Her presence has always been a constant, demanding focus in my life. Now, however, it's evolving into something deeper, with unsettling imitations and intrusive encroachments into every aspect of my world. The struggle to create distance only seems to intensify Donna's attachment,
pulling her dangerously closer.
And by the time I realise I’ve risked everything, it’s probably too late to stop her.

Good storyline
A well written storyline that had me guessing right to the very end. Good narrator who nailed the voices especially the over bearing friend.

True Friend, Maybe Not?
It was a good story with a tense ending, lots of suspense and rivalry.
I found the narrator to be nice and clear and helped to bring this book to life.
I received this book for free and I wanted to leave an honest review.

spoiled.
The story was quite good if rather far fetched. I did complete listening because I wanted to know where the story was taking us. It was hard work though, because the narator was so bad. We had an American accent trying to produce Yorkshire dialect. It didn't work.

Ok story bad narration
Quite engaging story, but the narrator has an annoyingly changeable accent vibrating somewhere between American and Yorkshire.

Thriller
I loved the narration of Jenny Myers, who brings out suspense and characters
This book is full of action and emotion. A psychological thriller that's fast paced
Lou is a single mother of a 13 year old girl and has a good job. Donna is her best friend and is needy and constantly manipulates her.

Well narrated and great story
I always enjoy books by this author . The story itself is just true Matia Frankland you can never know who to trust.
This was my first listen by this narrator. It didn't disappoint, the different characters were clearly defined and the accents worked.

Great start to a new series
Loved it! As with all this author's work this one gripped me from the start. Dysfunctional families and best friends, murder and a who done it makes for a great story. Can't wait for books 2 and 3 now! 😀 giving this one top marks. Recommend to all..........

a little far-fetched
Narrator annoying. Same annoying accent that alternates between long and short slurs
Storyline fair to middling!
This is the fourth book I've read of Maria Frankland, and there's been a sameness about them.
7/10
