Summary
From NYT best-selling author Michelle M. Pillow comes a tragically beautiful love story that defies perception.
When the willfully independent Isabel Drake refuses to marry the man her parents want her to, her mother decides, as punishment, she will be forced to take lessons on how to be a proper lady. But the man sent to instruct her makes her feel anything but proper. Her attraction to Mr. Weston is instant, but the confusing man seems set in keeping her in her place - even if she detects he feels something for her?
But things are not what they seem at Rothfield Park or with her new tutor. With Mr. Weston’s arrival, there comes an abundance of unrested spirits. Suddenly, Isabel doesn’t know who is alive and who is dead.
Why have they come now? And what are they trying frantically to tell her? Isabel must discover the truth about the eerie night mist that surrounds the manor before it comes to claim everyone she holds dear - including her Mr. Weston.
Praise for Forget Me Not:
"If you enjoyed books like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Mr. Darcy, or 'Vampyre', then Forget Me Not should give you plenty of ghostly pleasure. If you’re a fan of television shows like The Ghost Whisperer or films like The Sixth Sense, you’ll also find more enjoyable modern spins on ghosts and the Gothic in these pages. After you finish Forget Me Not, I suspect you will want to read more of Michelle Pillow’s novels - fortunately, she has written plenty in both the romance and paranormal genres." Lovely Historical Supernatural Tale
A historical tale with a dose of supernatural. I was initially uncertain about this book but by about a third of story in, I was hooked. The twisting mystery of what happened pulled you along and gave you a well woven tale with interesting characters.
Well worth a listen to.

i love this book
I would have normally read this book in a day as i greedily wanted to know what was going on, but i forced myself to put it down and drag it for a few days because i didn't want it to end. It has all the components that make this sort of books the perfect read for me: mystery, suspense, love passion, unexpected twists, sadness, happiness. I sensed and appreciated great literature masterpieces influences to this beautiful work, like "little women", "pride and prejudice", "Jane Eyre", "the portrait of Dorian Gray". Influences that are so very subtle and do not steal anything from this original brilliant work Michelle created. It was a pleasure to read A to Z. The characters were very believable and the story well written, so that everything makes sense exactly when it needs to.
In regards to the Audio version of this book, i must say that Rebecca is a brilliant reader and her voice generally suits historical novels, she has a wide range of tones and her narration timing is impeccable. unfortunately though i didn't think she was the best choice to give life to a 21 years old rebellious girl. Her voice is too mature to represent a young woman. She was brilliant in performing the other roles.

Gripping!
Viscount Sutherfeld is so concerned about the effect of London Society on his daughters' behaviour, that he relocates the family to an isolated estate in the North.
Eldest daughter, Isabel finds life at Rothfield Park tedious. She has to calm her sister Jane, who is convinced that the estate is haunted.
Even more vexing is the announcement that she is to marry a stuffy Colonel.
Isabel is independent, intelligent and stroppy! Her parents seek a tutor to give her lessons in propriety and deportment.
Following an argument with the Viscountess, she goes for a reckless gallop through the forest. After she is thrown from her horse, she returns to the house to find a changed atmosphere. Jane has been sent away, the servants shun her and her parents refuse to acknowledge her.
Isabel is determined not to succumb to parental pressure. Life is lonely for Isabel, so the arrival of Dougal Weston is an improvement. She doesn’t want a tutor, so having already encouraged several governesses to resign, she looks forward to challenging Dougal.
Isabel and Dougal’s relationship veers from polite, vexing, passionate and back again.
At the same time the restless spirits of Rothfield start to make themselves known. Some are fairly benign, but one is utterly terrifying.
As a book that I couldn’t put down. The audiobook is just as good. Good narration.
A gripping ghost story, culminating in a thrilling battle against evil. It has a pretty high angst level and the Isabel’s longing for eternal love made me cry!

Things Are Not What They Seem At Rothfield Park
This book has a large cast of characters, all complex and well-drawn. I found myself pulled into and swept away by the story it's full of twists and turns that had me second-guessing myself wondering what was going on as I listened to Isabel's story.
Isabel Drake refuses to marry a man of her parents' choosing so they insist she takes lessons to learn to become what they expect in a respectable young lady. Dougal Weston is chosen to be her tutor, he tries to keep her in her place but she's attracted to him and things get more complicated with each lesson. Since Dougal's arrival at Rothfield strange things have been happening, making Isabel wonder if she is losing her grasp on reality, there seem to be spirits and she can't decide who's dead and who's alive. There is also the mystery of the nightly mist that surrounds the manor.......
As I listened there were moments I wondered if she's dead or alive. There's a Sixth Sense feel to the story that had me totally confused but engrossed at the same time. This book has it all, an intriguing mystery, ghosts and romance.
The narration was performed by Rebecca Cook who can always be relied upon to do an excellent job.

All the Feels and More.
I read the book back in November and have been eagerly awaiting this audiobook. And wow, what an amazing telling of the story. Rebecca Cook’s English accents were spot on and she brought all the characters to life in such a believable way! Isobel and Dougal’s story is heart wrenching and the ending is just so emotional! A definite favourite of mine that I will be returning to time and time again! Five stars all round!

Rothfield Park might just be heaven on Earth…
This is a positively delightful mystery. Isabel is a young woman, certain she is beyond the need of a governess, and perfectly capable of choosing her own future husband — and hers shall be a love match. When her parents thwart her efforts to chart her own course the most unexpected story begins to unfold.
I hope there are more stories of this sort out there, part mystery, part coming of age, and entirely charming.

a fantastic story
Loved the story. Don’t want to give too much away but it’s a love story with a very different twist. There are a lot of characters in the spotlight in this and you wouldn’t think it but it works so beautifully. Any way listen to read or do both is an utterly enjoyable story.
