About this listen

"If you love a Law & Order marathon and binged True Detective in one go, Exeter might be your new favorite podcast.” (The New York Times)

From writer/director Ronnie Gunter, Exeter is a gripping crime mystery starring Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love, Criminal Minds) and Ray McKinnon (Dopesick, Sons of Anarchy).

Set in rural South Carolina in 1995, a veteran detective is forced to reconcile the errors of a past case when a woman she convicted of murder is exonerated after 10 years in prison. Meanwhile, a series of grisly and ritualistic murders rock their decaying town, and our heroine is put at odds against her ambitious partner as they race to put the pieces together.

Filled with peculiar and authentic characters, Exeter examines the nature of innocence, justice, and the price that is paid for following your instincts to discover deeper truths.

Note: Listeners do not have to start Exeter on season one. There is progression from season to season, but each season can stand on its own and does not have to be listened to in order.

worth a listen

There is something more entertaining when you have several performers in the narration. Especially when you have a good story to tell. This one is quick paced with no unnecessary dialogue. The main character is likeable and you get the idea she could have several cases to solve in this series.

Great story and performance but...

I thought this was very well performed with a great story line, both main characters have amazing voices for an audio story. The story flows really well but its annoying to have the credits announced after every episode, literally takes 2 minutes solid each time!

A Dramatic Feast for the Ears

This extremely enjoyable police drama combines a well written original story, believable dialogue and entertaining characters all delivered by a truly excellent cast. Its set in the southern states, all characters have a lovely southern drawl.
The music is very good but not intrusive. Special mention to the sound design, it is amongst the finest I've ever heard, and I've heard a LOT of audio drama. This is almost 3D, the listener really feels they are present in the scene.

Wherever you are in the world give Exeter a go you wont regret it.

Spoiler Alert⤵️

l have no sympathy for the beating the officer got - the style of interrogation - (torture) the blatant breach of Human Rights (and decency) in order to obtain a FALSE confession!

Possibly not for UK

I’m not sure this Programme is at its best when presented to a UK audience, it’s very typically an American style and gets a bit irritating in the way it’s delivered for MY taste.
