Summary

“If you love a Law & Order marathon and binged True Detective in one go, Exeter might be your new favorite podcast.” (The New York Times)

Season three of the hit crime podcast Exeter reunites an all-star cast, including Jeanne Tripplehorn (Big Love, Criminal Minds) and Ray McKinnon (Dopesick, Sons of Anarchy).

Detectives Coleen Clayton and Lester Pruitt are searching for a missing person when they turn up a dead body. Fitting into a pattern of gruesome homicides hitting South Carolina, the case bears an unnerving resemblance to one from 30 years ago—one that still haunts Exeter. The killer has become a legend, spawning countless ghost stories and Halloween costumes. A killer named Crouchback. But Crouchback died in prison 30 years ago, right?

With the public on edge, veteran detectives Colleen Clayton and Lester Pruitt embark on an investigation that will blur the lines between past and present, truth and myth. It will take uncovering some of Exeter’s darkest history to solve the case—before more people wind up dead.

In this all-new season, follow along with each twist and turn of a grisly tale sure to enthrall fans of Southern Gothic, film noir, and true crime.

Note: Listeners do not have to start with Exeter on season one. There is progression from season to season, but each season can stand on its own and does not have to be listened to in order.

Loved this series

I started listening because it was free. Then became hooked. Am now devastated because I can’t buy series 4. It’s amazing. I’m not a fan of things like this but did I mention it was amazing? I am praying there will be a series 4. The stories are great and the narrators even better.

I hope they write more

Each of the books is stand alone excellent. The stories keep twisting right up to the end and are so well acted.

The excellence continues!

This is an extremely well-written and well-performed show - the soundscape is evocative and the story is gripping, so much so that I listened non-stop and was sad to come to the end!
Highly recommended and I hope that there will be a Series 4 soon.

Very enjoyable.

This series was reminiscent of Radio .4 plays I used to enjoy when driving. The only gripe was the credits not being edited out until the last episode e.

An enduringly good crime series

Thoroughly enjoyed all three serials. Only wish there were more to listen to. Credible characters in believable situations and beautifully acted.
