About this listen

The in-crowd wears Gucci, but one girl wears her heart on her sleeve. When a chance meeting propels Bette into a new role as a party planner, she can hardly believe her luck. A job that pays you to party! Running with the cool Manhattan pack, gaining VIP access to the city's hottest spots, and meeting "everyone worth knowing" is a million miles away from the number-crunching and paper-pushing of her old banking job. Overnight, the greatest city in the world has become her sexy, late-night playground. But then everything starts to fall apart. Lauren Weisberger's first novel, The Devil Wears Prada, was on the New York Times bestseller list for six months.©2006 Lauren Weisberger (P)2014 Audible, Inc. Very entertaining

I really enjoyed this. Having previously purchased 'The Devil Wears Prada' I was both interested and nervous to see this new offering. Interested, as I really enjoyed the style of the previous novel and hoped for good things. Nervous, as so often a second novel doesn't live up to a great first one.

I wasn't dissappointed though and my nerves proved to be misplaced. It's quirky, funny, entertaining and involving. At times I found myself grinning, laughing out loud or cringing. It's well written and well read and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Everything worth listening to

I loved this tale of glitz an glamour. For those of you who downloaded 'The Devil Wears Prada' this is a must. Not being in the celebrity party planning business myself I'm not sure how accurate the accounts of what goes on are. However as the ex- girlfriend of proffessional musician and someone who has rubbed shoulders with quite a few well known names for the 6 years we dated , I can only say I can't imagine any of this to be too far fetched.

Not for me!

I'm afraid I didn't get past the first section of this audiobook - it was so hard to follow and I lost track of who was who. The narrator has a very fast paced American accent - which fits with the setting and that's great - but I found I was being left behind as I tried to understand the nuances of what was being said.

It's a promising idea but it is actually too detailed.

I didn't find that I was engaged with any of the characters - and I truly wanted to be - even the heroine seems to change between being 'normal' and an airhead!

Sorry - not enough depth for me.
