About this listen
When demons threaten Regency London, only a Lady can stop them…
Lillian Dellacourt is beautiful, refined, and absolutely lethal. She’s also the most feared and merciless demon hunter in The Company. She’s come a long way from the penniless seamstress’ daughter sold to the highest bidder, and it wasn’t by trusting a man, let alone an exiled Marquis with more on his mind than slaying the hellspawn…
For Dorian Lambert, Marquis de Montlambert, being sent to keep track of Lillian is no mean task. He’s wanted the fiery vixen since he first heard of her five years ago. But wooing the lady while fighting the demon uprising is difficult, especially when the lady’s tongue is as sharp as the Japanese sai blades she favors for the hunt.
These two will have to learn to trust each other fast, because the demon master is back, and he’s planning to turn Edinburgh into a living hell…

Unique
Lilian and Dorian make for an interesting pairing - both from opposite ends of the social spectrum. I liked the appearances of characters from the previous book and I thought the world building was great. The heroine is feisty, with some unusual talents, especially for a woman of her time. I also enjoyed the novelty of a historical book set in Edinburgh, given that London is the usual choice. The narration was faultless and having dual narration made it even better.

The Plot Thickens...
First of all, this audiobook is standalone but best enjoyed as a part of the series. There is an overall series plot that seems to be developing through the books though each book focuses on the brewing relationship between one male and one female protagonist.
I really enjoyed Dorian and Lillian's story. They have great chemistry together but are wonderful complex individuals. I love how the book is a historical romance set in a time when women had limited rights and wouldn't be caught wielding a sword but Lillian completely goes against convention and Dorian supports her.
Meanwhile the demon situation seems to be getting out of hand and, worse, it seems to be spreading. Lillian and Dorian work well together to understand the larger picture. Hopefully it makes a difference for the hunters, but as there are still a few more books in the series, I am expecting that the worst is yet to come. I am anticipating the rest of the series already!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
