About this listen
A dead body.
A missing daughter.
A silver blade.
All the clues point to one person: Me.
My name is Evangeline, and I’m a retired assassin who wants nothing to do with the underworld. But an edict from a Demonic Lord forces me to return to the man and the life I left behind.
I have seven days to prove my innocence.
Whoever set me up is going to die.
“Xai…”
His fingers knotted in my ponytail as he yanked my head back to the angle he preferred.
Oh, I knew that look. Nothing good ever came from that look.
I flattened my palms against his bare chest, but he pushed right through my physical barrier and took my mouth with a ferocity that screamed possession. His tongue demanded entrance, and when I tried to fight him, he bit my lip hard enough to bleed. On my gasp, he entered and unleashed his desire in a kiss that deprived me of oxygen.
My knees threatened to buckle under his assault. He took my mouth the way he did my body, reminding me who we were to each other with a few bold strokes. I melted for him, as I always did.
God, I missed this.
I missed him.
I hated it. Loved it. Craved it...."
Daughter of Death is a standalone paranormal romance with dark elements, demons, angels, a sadistic alpha male, blood, and a lot of dead bodies. What can I say? Eve likes her knives, and Xai enjoys watching her play.

Great listen
This was such a good listen, it was a refreshing romance, you will understand when you listen, it's also got funny bits in it, and I liked the fact it was a stand alone. The male narrator only reads 2 chapters, but it was so nice to hear the males perspective, the narrators did a great job and read beautifully, I would recommend this book. audiobook obsessions reviewer 🎧

The book is mainly from Eve's POV: right from the start she's intelligent, resourceful and clearly makes things happen in her own life. She's not scared of her demon boss, doesn't cower in a corner when she's accused of murder (not a spoiler: it happens at the beginning of the book). I loved the 'role play' bit she did by the pool - it was absolutely hillarious, and also very relatable in terms of her being underestimated.
The conflict was brilliant both outsie of the romance and within: I genuinely had no idea how the hell the author was going to reconcile what Xai had done in order to get to a happy ending. No. Idea. It was fast paced and action packed
I absolutely loved the male narrator too: he sounded like a villan, which was perfect!

Wow..
Okay. So I'm not much of a romance reader - I typically read books that have a hint of romance but it isn't the main focus. I've been expanding my genres and including more romance in it. This book was definitely more steamy than most than I read, but you know what? I loved it.
Not only was the story fantastic but all of the romance fit right in to the story. I loved the relationship between the characters and how it was a love/hate. It really helped propel the story. The pacing was fantastic and it was so easy to follow. Not only was I invested in the story, but the characters also. With this being the first book in the series, I felt like I already knew them. Foss did a fantastic job in bringing in their backgrounds without making it boring or too much.
This story was non-stop and kept me wanting more. Each scene flowed right into the next and I was so eager to find out what happened. I am excited to continue the series and see what happens next.
AUDIO REVIEW (note this does not affect my rating on the story itself)
Sarah Puckett is amazing. I've been listening to several books by her and I'm blown away constantly by how much I love her narration. She fit the story perfectly and made the story that much more enjoyable. Honestly, I was confused when I saw two narrators because Tristan narrated two chapters. I kind of wish that it was just Sarah who narrated the whole thing because the dual narration (in this novel anyways) didn't really fit. Tristan was not a bad narrator at all but the chapters were short and it broke the flow to all of the sudden have a new narrator that far into the novel for only 2 chapters. However, I do highly recommend this audio if you are planning on listening to it!

Paranormal Romance
Daughter of Death by Lexi C. Foss is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Sarah Puckett and Tristan Hunt. This is book one in The Dark Provenance Series but the books can be read as standalones. Book two is already released. However, it is not on audio yet.
Lexi did an amazing job with the storyline. I enjoyed the romance, drama, and action that surrounded Xai and Eve. There were just enough sexual scenes to make it a paranormal romance but not enough to distract from the storyline. The only downfall of the storyline is you don’t get much of Xai’s point of view. However, it looks like book two may be his perspective as the storyline continues.
Sarah did an amazing job narrating. I absolutely love her as a narrator. She just has a way of pulling you into the storyline. Tristan did a great job with his narration. However, he only got two chapters of the book to read. Here is to hoping to hear more from him in book two when its turned into an audiobook.

Love it! Great narration
Sarah Puckett does a stellar job bringing this story to life. As does Tristan Hunt, he isn't there much but that makes when he is that much more effective.
I love these characters, something about them just drew me in from the start. I love the way their backstory is sprinkled throughout not just lumped in one go. The world building is great and I love the scope of it in just one book, I feel almost like I'm in the middle of a series but that I haven't missed anything. Yes I know how odd that sounds! I could have happily stayed with these characters and this world for much longer.
