Summary
When Samantha Ashlyn is forced to return to her home town to write an article on a series of drownings, she initially resists, finding disturbing similarities to her childhood experiences. However, once she starts looking into the assignment, she finds that things are not what they seem. An ancient evil is rising again, aided by what appears to be a centuries-old conspiracy to keep it hidden. With the help of a disgraced police diver, Sam races to stop the nightmare before more lives are lost—not realizing that her investigation has put herself and those she loves in terrible danger.

Faultless Dark Delights
This fantastic new novel from Graeme Reynolds opens like the James Herbert classics of yesteryear but it ends like only Reynolds can; balls to the wall and taking no prisoners. The most engrossing and unnerving horror novel I’ve read in the last few years. Chris Barnes’s narration is a perfect for both the subject matter and the author’s style. Couldn’t fault the production.

Atmospheric and so creepy!
There's nothing not to love about this book. It has everything you could possibly want, and then some. The characters were well rounded, and I cared about their outcomes. I did not want to stop listening!

more crime than dark fantasy
I guess not all books are for everyone.
I enjoyed the author's unrelenting britishness, and the narrator of the audiobook was fantastic, i really enjoyed the Scot accent (i think it was Scottish), and it was a pleasure listening to that and the mannerisms.
However i was disappointed that the mystery was barely present throughout most of the book, and i was left listening to the life of Sam whose subtle neglect towards her kids was dismaying.
It read more like a crime story and that's one genre I can't stand. The creature appeared briefly for two sentences two or three times with her "spindly fingers" and that's all until the very last showdown. And it was more telling rather than showing. The ending also was unsatifying - I don't need a happy ending but i felt the motives were not strong enough and it was just overall disappointing.
Regardless, I'm glad others have enjoyed it and wish the author the best.

Another cracking book from Graeme R
Having read Graeme’s High Moor trilogy and enjoyed them, I was looking forward to this new book. It doesn’t disappoint. Chris Barnes narration is as good as his work on High Moor.

Mermaid horror
A woman haunted by nightmares of a mermaid haunting her and a police diver trying to solve some grisly incidents in bodies of water, with a witch history mixed in.
A bit much, but it works nicely! I really enjoyed listening to this, and I'll most definitely listen to more books from the author (this was my first of his).
I also quite liked the narration. I could make the story very easily, even with the heavy accent, and this worked very well for me.

Great little tale
I thoroughly enjoyed this one, just the kind of horror story I enjoy with great narration. I did not particularly like the narrator's characterisation of Sam but it wasn't terrible and the story and the rest of the narration made up for that.
I was lucky enough to receive my copy free of charge in exchange for my honest review.

Great story and performance
This is the first book by this author I've read by this author. Took a little while to get into the style, but quickly got gripped by the story, helped by top notch narration. Highly recommended.
