About this listen

"I believe pain lingers," Angel said. "Do I believe in spirits? In the supernatural? Probably not."

The Lonely Motel holds many dark secrets... and Room 6 just might possess the worst of them all.

Angel knows all about pain. His mother died in this room. He's researched its history. Today he's come back to end it, no matter the cost, once and for all.

Shyla, a plus-sized escort, thinks the stories Angel tells her can't be true. Secrets so vile, you won't want to let them inside you.

But the Lonely Motel doesn't forget. It doesn't forgive. And it always claims its victim.

WARNING: Don't buy this book if you have a weak stomach, if you're easily disturbed, or if you're looking for a light horror listen. THIS IS NOT THAT BOOK. Seriously. You've been warned. (For signed copies, please visit my website.)

A multilayered plot that comes together in the end through some horrific stories!

I’m so pleasantly surprised by this book! As controversial as it is, I wasn’t actually fazed by all the most horrific scenes, but I was amazed by the symbolism I found within parts of the story.
At the end of it I felt the same as when I watched the film Mother by Darren Aronofsky. I actually had to pause and take stock of what happened after it finished, as not only the plot is multilayered, but the actual ending, in my opinion, has an underlying meaning.

I listened to the audiobook version, expertly narrated by Joe Hempel, one of the best narrators, with the ability to give depth to the characters and story without feeling forced (and in this case conveying authenticity is key).

I have to say that although extreme horror (yes there are some pretty gross and obscene scenes), everything was so essential to the plot, that I never felt the need to stop or pause, but I actually was engrossed in the story and needed to know where it was going. And oh boy the direction it went was not the one I expected at all!

I’d say if you’ve got triggers, then avoid this book as there are several (apart from animal involvement, which was a relief for me), but if not, then listen to the audiobook version as for me this was a cathartic experience in a way!

Thanks to the author and Joe Hempel for the opportunity to listen to it and this is my honest opinion.

well written, but weird af!

it's splatterpunk darling! we all know it is, and as much as it is my gross guilty pleasure to read (listen) to them, this book was just gross. the side stories were pretty good. I enjoyed hearing all the stories of the people who had been in the room, it was more about what Angel and the prostitute was doing that grossed me out. I'm not one to get queasy easily, but it did for some reason? idk read at your own peril!

not my idea of horror

This book is depraved. It's not what I would call horror, it's not at all scary but it's shocking.
