About this listen

With Wizard's First Rule and seven subsequent masterpieces, Terry Goodkind has thrilled readers worldwide with the unique sweep of his storytelling. Now, in Chainfire, Goodkind returns with a novel of Richard and Kahlan, the beginning of a sequence of three novels that will bring their epic story to its culmination.

After being gravely injured in battle, Richard awakes to discover Kahlan missing. To his disbelief, no one remembers the woman he is frantically trying to find. Worse, no one believes that she really exists, or that he was ever married. Alone as never before, he must find the woman he loves more than life itself....if she is even still alive. If she was ever even real.

Critic reviews

"Bond's somewhat understated style and relaxed, steady pace keep the story moving and help listeners sustain interest from start to finish. The characters' secrets and political maneuverings are in good hands with Bond." ( AudioFile)

OMG where is Kahlan!

Good narration again from Jimmy Bond licence to thrill! What is Chainfire? Hmmm... Let's see what Phantom has in store.

Wonderful listen

This is a great story. Goodkind is fantastic at creating characters and a world that you really care about. The narrator is very monotone but as you get into the book you notice it less and less. It is still worth a listen because the story more than makes up for it.

Not the best

A bit too focused on the love story between Richard and Khalan. This is the first book in the series I got bored with at times. I know its the first part of the final trilogy of the story. I just hope the next installment gets better

Great listen

If you've read or listened to the starting books you'll know you want to read some more, personally I found the reading better than the listening, but these are still a great listen if you don't have the hours and hours to spend reading the books

Back from the brink

After the last book, The Naked Empire, I was ready to give up on the sword of truth series.

Two years later and nothing left to listen to but
Chainfire which I had purchased at the same time as the last book. I decided to give it one last chance.
WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS!
Terry Goodkind has completely pulled it back and my interest has returned. I eagerly look forward to the next.

Back on track

Found the last book tiresome but this one reignited my love for the series, hard to stop listening.

My favourite story since part 1

Excellent performance. The narrator captured all the characters really well and the story was gripping from start to finish
