Just the cosy interesting characters from a bygone age
Love all the Thrush green stories, and this last one has the familiar descriptions of nature and changing of seasons.

I'm definitely addicted to the Thrush Green novels
You can sense in this book that the series is slowly nearing its end. "Celebrations at Thrush Green" is of course another piece of gorgeous writing and perfect narration, even if it's one of the shorter books in the series. I wish I could read the life stories of Thrush Green's lovely inhabitants forever. I feel genuinely sad that I have only two more books to read in the series.

I'm afraid this time I have found a Miss Read book dull.
I am disappointed to have spentxa whole credit on this book. was slow paced and relied on reusing old plots.

Another fabulous listen! But not as good as the others
I love all of Miss Read’s books. This one was also lovely. I can’t believe it was set in 1992! It still has all that olde worlde charm of earlier books which is fantastic. I was brought up in a little village around that time and it had very little in common with Thrush Green…
However, I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the others as the Octavius and Nathaniel celebrations did seem farcical and over egged. It got to the end and I think if I’d have heard Nathaniel or Octavius’ names once more I may well have screamed. It would have been better if more had been made of the 100 years of the school with a lot more background about that.
Gwen Watfords Welsh and Yorkshire accents amused me greatly! But she read the book as well as she always does. I feel she sounds a little posh to read Miss Reads books and prefer other narrators, but I have got used to her now. She really puts emotion into the narration.
I am so very sad that I’m nearing the end of this series, I never knew books like these existed and now it’s all I want in my life!
