About this listen
Wed by proxy to a baron old enough to be her grandfather, Lady Anne trudges up the gangway of a galleon that will deliver her into the arms of a tyrant. Crestfallen, she believes her disastrous life cannot get worse - until she awakes to the blasts of cannon fire. Facing certain death, Anne trembles in her stateroom while swords clash and the chilling screams of battle rage on the deck above. When a rugged Highlander kicks in her door, she prays for a swift end.
But Laird Calum MacLeod has a reason for plundering the ship - and it's not a stunning English lass. With no other choice, he takes Anne to his crumbling keep on the isle of Raasay and sends a letter of ransom to her husband. In time, Anne grows to understand MacLeod's plight and finds it increasingly difficult to resist Calum's unsettling charm - until the baron sends a reply agreeing to terms.
Ripped from passion that will be forever seared into their souls, will Anne and Calum risk everything for love?

terrible narration
the narration was painful whilst listening to this audible book., poor accents. would have been better to just read the story and forget the acting efforts.

Scottish accents
loved the story but I'm afraid the Scottish accent was awful, I struggle to continue listening as the accents were so bad.

very nice story
The story was very good as usual. I love Amy Jarecki's books. But I can't say the same about the narrator. the story was ruined with his over dramatic acting. I stuck it out because I wanted to listen to all the series. I was contemplating about whether to listen to this 1 st one of the series because I had already listened to this narrator and I thought he was awful. His voice for the females was sooo dramatic and awful, especially Anne's. Couldn't bear it. Won't listen to this narrator ever again. Looking forward to the rest of the series as the narrator is one of my favourite ones.

Aye :)
The best part is the narrative. I love the accent. The story may be not very deep but it is a romance after all. Romance not supposed to be deep. It has to be blood boiling. And this one was for me. I wanted to scream with anticipation. 😻😻😻 I live in Scotland and even in contemporary times I’ve seen a men like the Pirate Laird. I love that there is no hours of talk about war and armies and politics. It is about passion and love and simple life. And I could feel every second of it.
