Summary
'I found my power when I realized it was within me, within my skin and within my soul.
It just needed to be set free.'
Leigh-Anne Pinnock's life changed overnight when she became part of the first ever girl band to win the X-Factor. The multi-platinum selling supergroup Little Mix, went on to become one of the biggest girl bands of all time.
Launched into chart-topping global fame, Leigh-Anne was living her childhood dream of becoming a popstar. But behind the scenes, as a Black woman within an industry and team with little diversity, Leigh-Anne was struggling with her identity and felt completely lost.
In her highly anticipated memoir, Leigh-Anne shares her journey from growing up in a mixed-race family in Britain to taking the pop world by storm. Honest and direct, she reveals the challenges and prejudices that stood in her path and how she overcame them by embracing her own power. Sharing the experiences and lessons that have shaped Leigh-Anne, this book will empower us all to challenge the status quo, stand up for what we believe in and go after our dreams.

Amazing
Amazing recant of story, lovely to see someone of her calibre talking about her trials and tribulations while stile acknowledging her privilege. Great also to see her accept her own wrong doings and be objective which is something that is very uncommon in an autobiography!

A real eye opener
Leighanne articulates her experience very well. As a white person I found it educational as well as heart wrenching. She talks about experiencing racial gaslighting and prejudice, in the midst of having massive success in the music industry. It made me cry a few times! It's a very inspiring story of strength and resilience in the face of adversity. She is iconic!

wasn't what I was expecting it is a story of becoming, drive, determination and activism!
This feels like an honest raw book of emotion. Leigh-ann's life journey will be the same for many Black women in feeling ignored, invisible and not good enough. Leigh-Ann talks it through and it helps the listener understand racism and debilitating effect.
It is also a love story, a love story of self.

Beautifully narrated
Hearing Leigh-Anne narrate her own story is so special. She has a beautiful speaking voice, and to speak so intimately makes her relatable. An inspiration to so many.

Beautiful
I’ve been a fan of Leigh’s since 2011 when I saw the girls on The X Factor and on the tour. This is a very easy listen to have on in the background when revising or doing household chores. It’s amazing to get to know her culture and the hardships and also the great things about her career. (This is the account holders daughter btw.) ❤️
