Don't miss the brand-new Christmas book from Sunday Times best-selling author Trisha Ashley!

This Christmas will be the most special of them all....

Elderly widow Sabine knows this will be her last Christmas in her beloved home, Mitras Castle. Determined to make it just like the ones she remembers from her childhood, she employs Dido Jones of Heavenly Houseparties to help with the big day.

Dido is enchanted by the castle as soon as she steps through the imposing front door. And as Christmas day approaches, her feeling of connection to the old house runs deeper than she first thought. But when the snow begins to fall and Sabine's family arrive at the house - including Dido's teenage crush Xan - tensions rise around the castle's future and long-buried mysteries begin to unravel....

As past secrets come to light, can this still be a magical Christmas to remember?

Loved it !

Not my usual genre …..but once started I was hooked ! Very enjoyable story , great characters and interesting back plot . The interactions between the characters came over so naturally-it seemed more like a biography . Good read !( though I listened via audible which was very well done )

Nice story but the voices are distracting

This was a lovely book, but I struggled getting into it because the voices sounded so strange and robotic. It got better as we got on, or maybe I got used to it, but not my favourite book to listen to 😩

Enjoyable

I enjoyed listening to this book, pleasant relaxing and doesn’t require too much concentration if doing housework or travelling. Trisha Ashley’s stories follow along similar lines, this one was probably less quirky.
I did find the narrator’s voice a little clipped when talking as the main female character but what a great range she brings when she speaking for the other characters.

Relish this long, sumptuous story!

A lovely, gently paced seasonal story. Lots of mouthwatering descriptions of delicious festive food. Well “acted” and with a few twists in the plot that made for a gripping, humorous, witty romance in a beautiful and remote Northumberland setting.

Just wonderful

A lovely ‘feel good’ Christmas story. Beautifully written, and even more beautifully narrated.
I couldn’t stop smiling all the way through.
Easy listening and the recipes at the end sound yummy😋😋😋
Would highly recommend xxx

Lovely Christmas story with a few flaws

I adore the premise, setting, and warm Christmassy vibe of this story, with the cosy castle and lots of festive food and plenty of romance.
However, there we quote a few instances of (to my mind) quite backwards negative stereotyping of female characters, such as a vapid, chocolate eating, romance-novel reading character that everyone makes fun of for being useless, and a mean-spirited love rival character who is pictured as an overly-sexily dressed materialistic seductress, while the male characters are all shown very sympathetically, including some VERY dodgy infidelity being brushed off as ‘a little fling’ that ‘meant nothing’ to the man in question, and it didn’t really matter because he adored his wife.
For me it was a shame that these instances of hackneyed sexist stereotypes detracted from an otherwise really fun Christmas story.
