About this listen
When the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, it's up to six college students and their experimental physics project to prevent the end of civilization.
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away.
Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet. The team has just hours to get as many people as possible across to Outland before a lethal cloud of ash overwhelms them.
Nothing has prepared the refugees for what they find - a world of few resources and unprecedented dangers. Somehow, they must learn to survive, because Outland may not just be a safe haven - it could be their new home.

Why is it so short
Great story (that is expected from Mr. Taylor), narrated by an awesome Ray Porter.
Enjoyed it as much as the Bob trilogy.

Quite riveting overall
It is quite plausible that a major Yellowstone event will occur at some point in the future. This story hinges around the prior invention of a means of travelling between different Earth realities based around a premise of parallel universes.
If you can accept the possibility of a "stargate" scenario it is a fascinating glimpse of potential social breakdown and its consequences.
In reality, should a Yellowstone event take place on the scale envisaged, we would be all done for, for all the reasons discussed in this novel. It would be interesting to project forwards from ehere the redux dumped us. Velociraptors are a whole new ballgame!

A great tale
Despite negatives from other readers, I thoroughly enjoyed this post apocalyptical tale. It was well written, superbly read, and I definately look forward to the next in the series.

Loved this twist on world end
Hoping there is a sequel. Another perspective on world ending. Enjoyed the characters but left pining for more at the end.

Absolutely fantastic
A lot of reviews saying that this isn’t as good as The Bobiverse series. That may well be the case - but it is right up there.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book, especially after listening to the entire Bobiverse series beforehand, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The characters are relatable and feel like your friends, the setting/environment is highly personable and easy to imagine, and the story is serious, informative, and yet still lots of fun. I cannot wait for part 2 in the series.
A fabulous style of writing with the perfect blend of education, storytelling, and comedy. Dennis E Taylor has definitely established himself as my first-ever favourite author.
As for the performance by Ray Porter, it goes without saying. Absolutely exquisite.
Listen to this book. You will not regret it.
