Summary
Random House presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Spark Joy by Marie Kondo, read by Sumalee Montano.
Spark Joy is an in-depth, room-by-room guide to decluttering and organising your home. It covers every room in the house, from bedrooms and kitchens to bathrooms and living rooms, as well as a wide range of items in different categories, including clothes, photographs, paperwork, books, cutlery, cosmetics, shoes, bags, wallets and valuables.
The secret to Marie Kondo's unique and simple KonMari tidying method is to focus on what you want to keep, not what you want to get rid of. Ask yourself if something 'sparks joy', and suddenly it becomes so much easier to understand if you really need it in your home and your life. When you surround yourself with things you love, you will find that your whole life begins to change.
Marie Kondo's first book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying, presents her unique tidying philosophy and introduces listeners to the basics of her KonMari method. It has already transformed the homes and lives of millions of people around the world. Spark Joy is Marie Kondo's in-depth tidying masterclass, focusing on the detail of how to declutter and organise your home.

tidying in a time of covid
I listen to the first book after watching Marie's Netflix show tidying up , the consent of putting things in smaller more compartmentised space made sense to me and introduced me to the concept of joy from our living space and things we own .so when I saw there was a second book i got it and started straight away . currently the world is having a environmental break and people's lives are different. a mask comes with your keys, wallet and phone. so it's a perfect time to declutter and come out the other side of this with a more free flowing decluttered you . the thing I will say that goes against what we've always done is a better method. we been programmed to tidy , clean and declutter when we can however the more successful Marie way is declutter and discard then tidy followed by cleaning . this way you are cleaning a much more manageable space and you will have to clean less often for it.

Excellent, inspiring and yet practical guide
I read Marie’s first book 2 years ago, but picked it up again recently when I had firmly decided I needed to tidy up! It was then that I became aware of this second book, which I purchased immediately. I am going to put what I have learnt into practice and really just want to give it a go. I found the book inspiring, motivating and practical and Marie’s warmness comes across. I’m quite inspired now!

Great book
Sometimes a bit to restrictive, as « you HAVE to do it this way » but offers a great point of view and make you question your relationship with your belongings

I wasn’t too sure about getting this book
I’d read many reviews good and bad and was hesitant due to some of the poor reviews. In the end I decided to listen to the first clip and that alone made me go “yes, I think this is for me”.
And yes, it was, I enjoyed the info, stories and advice I was hearing while I started my own tidying process.
I didn’t buy the first one as a lot of reviews said this book included the basic concepts and just went deeper into practical matter like folding and exact ways of storing. At this stage I don’t feel like I need to read the first book as I’ve gained great insights that have already been put into practice and make me feel like my house is a lot more tidy and organized.
A yes from me 😁

Detailed explanation of how to tidy
I enjoyed this book, but I wouldn’t read it unless you have read the first book, The Magic of tidying up (which is excellent). This book is a very detailed explanation of how to fold and tidy. The personal stories are interesting though. It is also well read.
