Summary

You don't have to live overwhelmed by stuff - you can get rid of clutter for good! Decluttering expert Dana White identifies the emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter and provides workable solutions to break through and make progress.

While the world seems to be in love with the idea of tiny houses and minimalism, many of us simply can't purge it all and start from nothing. Yet a home with too much stuff is difficult to maintain, so where do we begin? Add in paralyzing emotional attachments and constant life challenges, and it can feel almost impossible to make real decluttering progress.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, decluttering expert and author Dana White identifies the mindsets and emotional challenges that make it difficult to declutter. In her signature humorous approach, she provides workable solutions to break through these struggles and get clutter out - for good!

Not only does Dana provide strategies, but she dives deep into how to implement them, no matter the listener's clutter level or emotional resistance to decluttering. She helps identify procrasticlutter - the stuff that will get done eventually so it doesn't seem urgent - as well as how to make progress when there's no time to declutter.

In Decluttering at the Speed of Life, Dana’s chapters cover:

  • Why you need this book (You know why)
  • Your unique home
  • Decluttering in the midst of real life
  • Change your mind, change your home
  • Breaking through your decluttering delusions
  • Working it out room by room
  • Helping others declutter

As long as we're living and breathing, new clutter will appear. The good news is that by following Dana’s advice, decluttering will get easier, become more natural, and require significantly fewer hours, less emotional bandwidth, and little to no sweat to keep going.

I listen and I listen again!

Love this book! No nonsense, no frills, just decluttering in a non-emotional way. Perfect for me and I am seeing results for the first time in decades!

My favourite decluttering book ever!

I have listened to this book lots to times to re-motivate me to get rid of useless stuff.
It's the only decluttering book that works for me and I have listened /read so many of them! I just love the no nonsense approach...it's just stuff!!!
Thank you Dana White!

Pragmatic and down to earth in an inspiring way

This book was recommended to me by a friend and I’ve found the concepts really helpful and practical to put into practice already, especially in the ‘visible’ spaces of my house! Thank you Dana!

Informative & Fun

I bought this after listening to her podcasts for a few months - it does not disappoint and I have been using her strategies (along with a few others) and I am making great progress - the container concept is a game changer!

I just love this book!

I’ve listened to her podcast, A Slob Comes Clean, for years and I love it! I’ve been lacking motivation and have been feeling overwhelmed when it comes to many things (a consequence of depression and cptsd). Listening to Dana makes me feel less alone, and because I relate so much to what she’s saying, it makes it easier for me to believe that I can do it too! I’ve been wanting to get her books for a long time and finally did. This book is definitely worth a listen (or ten), especially if you’re not a natural declutterer. Inspiring and helpful!

Good book

Great content but the chapters aren’t named or split properly in the recording. It makes it hard to reference or go back to (and this book you really do need to go back to).

Amazing!

I loved this audiobook! My house wasn't over run with clutter but it was above my clutter threshold. I loved listening to this book and decluttering at the same time. Fantastic!

First book that someone has actually lived and thought like i do!💯👍🏽

I haven’t even finished this book and i had to review! This is the first book where i have found that the person understands PROPERLY and she thought the same way i do and I know that this book is going to change the way I think DEFO! She understands about having SO much stuff and how we keep things “just incase “ we might need it one day and thats how you end up overwhelmed with SO much stuff! This woman is the BEST! She has properly lived with too much stuff and felt overwhelmed, she helps you understand why and how you have got to a point of not knowing where to start, she is by far the best help out there! She has actually lived with a complete guddle, i relate to everything she says!!!!😱😣if you don’t know where to start, hoard and buy too much then this is the book to help you! 💯💯💯👏🏽brilliant book! Thank you Dana!👏🏽🙌🏽♥️ X
