About this listen
Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of Run for Your Life by William Pullen, narrated by Roy McMillan.
Anyone who has ever gone for a run, a jog or even a walk knows that uplifting, happy feeling they get at the end of their journey. Some call it the runner's high; others put it down to endorphins. Here William Pullen teaches us focus that incredible energy to experience our emotions in motion.
In Run for Your Life, Pullen argues that we need a radical new approach to mindfulness - an approach which originates in the body itself. DRT offers just that. Whether the you are looking for strategies to cope with anxiety, anger, change, or decision making, Run for Your Life offers carefully tailored thought exercises (and talking therapies for pairs or groups) inspired by mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy, specifically designed to be implemented whilst on a run or walk.
The book is designed to offer space for you to reflect on your practice and see your progress as you run through life's ups and downs. Offering practical steps to combine mental and physical well-being, Run for Your Life introduces DRT as a truly holistic approach to living, bringing the mind in perfect harmony with the body and combining the power of both in order to show how we might achieve our fullest potential.

Empowering
The narrator has a pleasant voice.
I think the title may make non-runners think this book is just for runners. However the principles he outlines can be applied to any form of exercise and wellbeing practice.
The book is also full of mindfulness theory so great for people who like this genre.
A great addition.
I also thought Dynamic Running Therapy (DRT) he introduces could be re-worded Dynamic Training Therapy (DTT).

Life changing!
This book has seriously been life changing.
I decided to start running as a form of self care so decided to find an audio book to accompany me on runs. I am so grateful i found this one as i get so absorbed in it every run! I have managed to run for an hour everyday which i would have thought impossible. I always thought i hated running until I actually started doing it. I found a pace, location and time that suits me and I haven't looked back since.
As someone who couldn't run for more than 2 minutes straight on a treadmill, i was astonished to be able to run 10,15,20,30 minutes straight. Even when i stop it is never for long as i want to get back into the flow of things.
This book has transformed the way i see myself and made me able to surrender. I see things as a chance to discover and explore rather than setting limits, expectations and goals. If i had set out to run 5k a day for a week, I would have surly failed but just by exploring this is exactly what i've done. I have discovered so much about myself and am truly sad the book is over.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone. Especially those who need to get some headspace and reconnect with their body and nature.
There are also some great quotes in here!

A great listen
I throughly enjoyed listening to this. Life has not been easy and the last 6 months have been challenging. This audio book really helped lift my mood and helped me work things out in my head.

Not great
Found this book really hard work. The sentiment is worthy, but the delivery makes it a difficult book to listen to. Probably a better book to read than to listen to. Lots of lists of questions to ask yourself - and listening to long lists of bullet points is hard work.

What did I miss?
I’m not sure whether I did some thing wrong, listened to 12 chapters of discussing what the idea of DRT was about and heard talk of “with these exercises....” but never came across any exercises? Did I miss something? Had hoped it might be some actual guided help that I could listen to whilst running, not just talk about the different things that cause us problems? Confused

Misleading
Awful book that's very misleading. it's not about running it's about self help and mindfulness. don't waste your time, it's not what you think it is.
