Summary
Penguin presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The 5th Wave: The Last Star by Rick Yancey, read by Phoebe Strole and Ben Yannette. Now a major film by Sony Pictures, starring Chloe Grace Moretz.
The 5th Wave is the first book in the best-selling series from award-winning Rick Yancey. Perfect for fans of The Hunger Games, Divergent and Maze Runner.
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one. Now is the dawn of the 5th wave. On a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs. Runs from the beings that only look human, who have scattered Earth's last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan may be her only hope.
Now Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death.

Didn't see the end coming
I enjoyed the series but did not see the end coming which I found hard to come to terms with. A very good story with a bitter sweet ending.

Sad but good
I really loved these series, the ending was sad but good, a bit predictable. Kinda wish there was more info about the others tho. I felt they could have give it more info. Really recommend the series

Great trilogy!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. This is a great trilogy. If you love big epic storylines that suck you in, red these books.
What did you like best about this story?
Plus:I love the idea of this storyline, it’s a bit left field for this genre. It’s not your typical aliens have landed and the last few humans have to save the world type and I like that. Book 3 had a few shocks in store, there was more than one ‘oh no, seriously nooooo’ moment in there and the fact that it’s kids having to make these huge decisions and sacrifices and go through so much so young...well Yancey knows how to make you think for sure, there are times I wanted to scream at Ben for being an idiot and then I remember he’s a kid!Minuses:I read these books back to back so while overall I really loved this trilogy, reading them back to back there are times when Yanceys repetitive language bugged me a bit, he’s a real fan of contradictive speeches that can, on occasion, go on a bit, especially for Cassie. ‘It is and is not, it will be and won’t be’ type stuff. But, don’t let it put you off reading it, the story overall really is great and worth a little repetitiveness.
Which character – as performed by Ben Yannette and Phoebe Strole – was your favourite?
In book 1, it was a coin toss between Ben/Zombie and Cassie In book 2, it was EvanIn book 3 it’s hands down Ringer
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes

Really enjoyed this series of books.
Again, I really enjoyed the story told from different character's points of view. I'm sad that I won't get to see this played out on the big screen by the original actors of the movie in 2016.

Good ending, needed more though
This book seemed to move a lot faster than the other. It focused on the characters more, less on cassie this time. I enjoyed the book but I felt there should be more to it. I feel it should have another book or have it wrapped up a bit more. Maybe the author is leaving it open so he can write another book if he wants to. I was pleased with the outcome though and I recommend you listen to this one to finish the story, the last one was left on such a big cliffhanger.

Awful!
Having read the first two books in the trilogy I was looking forward to the Last Star. The narrators don't suit the characters and the narrative is terrible, so much so I thought I had downloaded the wrong book. Giving up on it after only listening for less than an hour. Very disappointing, maybe would be better to read having read the first two, but not sure I care enough to find out

Confusing and a let down!
Would you try another book written by Rick Yancey or narrated by Ben Yannette and Phoebe Strole ?
I enjoyed the performances, but i am not sure i would read another book by Rick Yancy as I felt this last book in the trilogy was a complete let down, so confusing and with a rather abrupt ending. The first book was awesome, the second book was ok, but with this last one there was no effort invested in writing about the emotion from the characters, it was like he was listing their experiences.
What could Rick Yancey have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Rick could have Made it alot less confusing and invested more in the emotion of the characters. He did in the first book which is why I wanted to read more about the characters stories.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration from Pheobe was great but I wish they had kept the same male narrator from the beginning as Ben was a bit flat in places.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I wont be reading anything else by Rick Yancy as this was such a disappointment
Any additional comments?
if you want to try and get to the conclusion of the others then read this at your own peril! It will be confusing and only end in disappointment but read it any way or you wont know how it ends.

Depressing. Let down the whole series.
I feel like this book's events let down the whole series. It was also a little unrealistic, even given its sci-fi YA genre, Without spoiling it, my issue is with the nature of the brain, and it not being like a computer harddrive that has an unlimited storage capacity.
And I just wasn't happy with what happened to the main characters. It was quite depressing, really, It spoiled the whole series for me.
