Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Checkmate by Malorie Blackman.
My name is Callie Rose.
My mum is a Cross - one of the so-called ruling elite.
My dad was a Nought. My dad was a murderer. My dad was a terrorist.
These facts are the only things that are mine and real. So I don't mind so much that I'm leaving it all behind. There's nothing here worth holding on to.
Sixteen years have passed since Sephy Hadley first met Callum McGregor. For Callie Rose, growing up mixed race in a world where bitter prejudice divides Noughts and Crosses has meant she's an outsider wherever she turns.
Enter Jude McGregor. Jude teaches Callie about her real family history, and the more she learns the more he persuades her where her loyalties really lie.
But soon Callie is caught in a trap she can't get out of - one which will have deadly consequences.
Voted as one of the UK's best loved books, Malorie Blackman's Noughts & Crosses series is a seminal piece of YA fiction - a true modern classic.

Amazing is an understatement!
A gripping continuation to the sequel, with a spectacular finish to a brilliant creation of two worlds imitating a reality.

Hmm
I didn't enjoy the story as much as I enjoyed reading the first two in the series. Not sure if that because of the story itself or because of the narration. I found the voice of Callow Rose very irritating, like someone putting on a childish voice (e.g. A Horrid Henry character)

Non stop
I expected book 3 to follow the same pattern as the previous two books, world building, character development and moving the story on gradually and in a careful and ever thoughtful way. Nope, this isn’t that kind of book. Like a chess board, the black and white pieces are set, the board is ready and all that is needed is to play and play it does. The story zips along, chopping and changing timelines, characters and story at such a pace that you are left feeling breathless. Three very late nights later and I’m at the end of this whirlwind and left with a very satisfying conclusion to a lot of threads. Each book in the series has its place but this book has been the most memorable and with having children of my own, the most heart rending of the books so far. I cannot wait for the rest of the series.

Great Book, Great listen
This is a great book as is always the case with Malorie Blackman. The storyline is captivating and I couldn't stop listening. I have the hard copy of the whole trilogy and have read multiple times over since school days. Now on audible I can listen as I go. The readers did a good job of conveying the emotions across on audible.

Harleys review.
This book is awsome. It has so many great ideas bursting out from its pages. I 100% recommend you to get this book. The storyline is planned out so well that you feel as if you’re a character on the journey with all people in the book.
