About this listen

For members of the City Watch, life consists of troubling times, linked together by periods of torpid inactivity. Now is one such troubling time. People are being murdered, but there's no trace of anything alive having been at the crime scene. Is there ever a circumstance in which you can blame the weapon, not the murderer? Such philosophical questions are not the usual domain of the city's police, but they're going to have to start learning fast.©1997 Terry and Lyn Pratchett (P)1997 Corgi Audio Fantasy Fiction City

Brilliant. Very thought-provoking!

Terry really had a brilliant way with words. He really makes you stop and think but keeps making you laugh out loud throughout. Tony does a fab job of bringing the characters to life

Gives the feel Ankh Morpork

Excellent narration and abridging that really gives the feel of Terry Pratchett's city. It keeps enough of the jokes while still keeping it short and to the point, so you can listen to one in a day easily enough. I treat them like my favourite TV episodes, something to rewatch time and time again.

There's abridging and then there's this...

I love Discworld, I really do. I've read them each multiple times over and often listen to audiobooks whilst travelling or when going to bed. Tony Robinson is also great, probably my favourite narrator of the series. My only gripe is that they seem to have cut out large chunks of the book, which may not directly affect the plot, but deliver the humour that Sir Terry was so famous for. I just think they've been a bit brutal in the editing booth getting this down to 4 hours...
